NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti Owner's Club - Page 181

Has anyone installed an EK Titan X(P) waterblock on their new Ti and gotten the Founders backplate installed as well? I know you could use that block with the founders backplate on the Titan X(P) but just wanted to make sure you can do the same thing with the 1080 Ti Founders.

I forgot about DSR on Geforce cards and enabled it after folks in BF1 thread suggested I try it. Resolution was 5120 x 2880. Everything stayed on max settings. Played on the new Soissons DLC map, and still averaged 85fps in SLI. GPU usage was much much better vs lower resolution ~1440p.

Really need a new monitor lol

of course. if you buy the 80, wait for the next 80. if you buy titans, wait for the next titan. if you buy Ti, well, I waited for the Ti. I do understand why some always get the 80, then the Ti, then the 80. Constant 20%-30% upgrades that way. Im just never willing to go backwards on cores and BUS size/bandwidth (like going from 980Ti was to 1080) and Tis are always a beast, so I do the Ti>Ti cycle. Although I reserve the right to get Volta because that new arch might be a little more than just the 25~% upgrade from the 1080Ti.

yeah, daboy. stay patient tho. yes, you really do, but you need it to be a 4k >100Hz hdr one. i could see the argument for a 5k one, but, not (to me) if it's stuck at 60.

I ended up ordering a Watercool HEATKILLER IV for my Nvidia 1080Ti FE. Right now Watercool is having supply issues due to outsourcing the plating/finish work (per their rep here on OCnet). Decided to play around with the factory backplate that came with the 1080Ti and came up with the following. Looks great, saved myself about $40 (with shipping) and the trouble of removing the GPU when stock is available.

Drilled out the factory holes, at very slow speeds, and cleaned up any edges with a razor.

The screws that came with the Heatkiller waterblock are ALMOST too short. Almost. They had just enough threads to make sure there was a tight fit between the block and GPU. I did go down to Fastenal and order some slightly longer (matched the factory screws) ones but I don't think I need them. Might change them out the next time I have it apart. No need really though...

The screws around the main GPU chip did not require drilling out. Don't drill out any of them...

Complete view:

Great (idle) temps:

Temps raised 10 degrees after running Time Spy:

Running the leak check and it's game time!

No it says PCIe x 16 3.0 @x16 1.1
