It was a hard choice but my cpu temp is really nice so I see no need to cool it further for now. (4790k at 4.7ghz stock volt, but 4.8 need almost max volt so no real gain to make on cpu)

I bought my Titan XP from the Nvidia store Aug 2nd and received my card Aug 3rd to Edmonton, Alberta.
Dam I can almost expect it this monday, thats fast. too bad there is n.o shipping in the weekend.
Well that's good, from what I've see posted, those with aio's are getting quite good temps. with their cards.
And certainly a lot more silence!

You may not get the card quite as fast, keep in mind that those of us who have been following MrTOOSHORT all know that he is the "Titan Meister", lol.biggrin.gif

Keep an eye on the tracking sites.
I lucked out on Thursday night, and found a site called Mike's Computer Shop, in B.C., that had about 6 EVGA 1080Ti's in stock for a short time.
I jumped on the order button and managed to score one before they ran out.

Just installed my 4x 1080 Ti GPUs on my 2nd rig and put the EVGA 1600W T2 PSU in there as well. Ran 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra - runs fine - all GPUs scale (score is much lower since I'm using the 3970X @ 4.50Ghz).

However, Heaven 4.0 doesn't scale well even at 4K w/ 8x AA!

Games also are not scaling anywhere as nearly well as the first rig w/ the 6950X @ 4.30Ghz.

Can the CPU alone cause this? I'm also running "only" DDR3 @ 2133Mhz (32GB) on the rig with the 4x 1080 Tis whereas on the other rig, I have DDR4 @ 3200Mhz (64GB).

Further, if I use DSR to play at 5K (this rig has the RoG Swift @ 1440P @ 144Hz), the scaling is pretty bad where as 5K on the other rig scales >90% across all 4 GPUs.

If I bump up resolution scale to 8K (150% from 5K or 200% from 4K UHD), the game (BF1) crashes instantly with a DirectX error.

The other rig can play at 8K all day (4x Titan XP).

Why is the scaling so bad when all other components (other than CPU & RAM) are the same? Could the X79 platform itself be limiting scaling somehow?

Would like some advice on this.
that millionaire struggle is real, huh?
I didnt think more than 2 were supported, but, yeah, i imagine 56 TFLOPS on a 3 series Intel might not be the way to go.

Turned the pumps up to 5 now. Cpu still hit 82 and gpu seemed to hold about 53c. Gonna remove the corsair fan reducers and just use the bitfenix 5v adapters and see if that changes anything. Just added the corsair adapters today, didn't notice a drop in noise at all so I'll remove them and see if the little bump in fan speed helps any. If not I'll remove the 5v adapters and just run the corsair adapters and deal with the loud ass fans.

Lol. Wonder what he does for a living rolleyes.gif

I'd say sell the Titan's and put the 1080 Ti's in the main rig and then buy some regular vanilla 1080's or 1070's for the secondary and use the money made to beef up that secondary pc's cpu, or go on a vacation. thumb.gif

The 3970x is getting kind of slow for the new gen of cards especially so with quad 1080 TIs. But also make sure you are running pci-E 3.0 with the regedit hack. Make sure to use the extra pci-E molex plug on the motherboard for extra juice if you hadn't already.

Can you elaborate on this? I just set my slots to 3.0 in my bios.
