Both power and temp were maxed out before.

Does my mobo need that RegEdit hack though? I have the ASRock Extreme11 X79 which has 2x PLX chips so I'm running x16/x16/x16/x16 @ PCI-E 3.0 (at least that's what it says in GPU-Z).

Will try it out and see if it helps.

Hmm.. I upgraded the PSU to run 4x 1080 Ti. I bought a CPU cooler (Kraken X62) and replaced all the fans in my case (Scythe Ultra Kaze @ 3000RPM)... the question is should I go the full distance and replace mobo/CPU as well? I wasn't planning on building a 'new' rig tbh... just wanted to run 4 Way SLI in the 2nd rig as well and see how well it can do 4K 144Hz or 5K 144Hz... - none of which is possible with the current setup due to the crappy scaling.

The funny thing is when I first bought the 3970X I was running 4x OG Titans in 4 Way SLI and the scaling was pretty good back in the day. I guess with the new tech, this CPU is showing its age. redface.gif

I would guess that the card in your "before" screen is actually performing better and likely to score higher in 3dmark despite the lower top bin clock. Looking at PerfCap Reason. Since it's hitting limiter, more so than your "before" screen which seems to only be hitting the voltage and an occasional pwr?

I seen your 1080ti bench just now in the benchmarks area and it does say pci-E 3.0, so it shouldn't be that. I'd have to say it's the cpu showing it's age. You could get an $800 1680 V2 from ebay that should work for your board. It's and unlocked IB-E 8 core/ 16thread cpu.

Easy swap, instead of a motherboard/ram overhaul. Then wait for Skylake-E, the 6950x will be the back up system then LoL.tongue.gif

Could try playing around with the voltage/frequency curve?

Nice, thats exactly what I was hoping for ;-)

Not sure what to make of your pics yet though (earlier post), faster core clock, despite lower targets. Unless something else moved, too.

Well for anyone having downclocking issues I may have found the root of the cause. Well for myself atleast. I turned on desktop recording with shadowplay and my card sticks at first bin(1506MHz for me) load until I turn that feature off. So if you have that enabled and are having you card not downclock give that a look.

Anyone on a full water block and a quiet/silent setup have coil whine with this card at 100+ fps and 100%gpu usage?

My 980ti coil whine is the loudest thing in my PC BY FAR at Max loads, thinking of upgrading.
