My 980ti coil whine is the loudest thing in my PC BY FAR at Max loads, thinking of upgrading.

No discernible coil whine under water. My previous 1080FE had noticeable coil whine in the same scenarios.

You're not going to be able to overclock on FE SLI. My TXP SLI is terrible with the FE coolers... top card is 10+ degrees hotter. I have my fan curve set to GPU temp - 10%, and it still throttles slightly at stock speeds sometimes, even with a 65 FPS cap, and power/temp raised up.

Mine has massive coil whine yes. with AIO

I am still trying to figure out why my card has decided to idle at 57c.

Mine has bad coil whine also. Evga if it makes a difference.

Ive been reading that the PCB exactly the same as the titan x pascal and the coolers/blocks will work on the 1080ti. I was looking at this one, would this work to cool the chip and other components unlike the other aio's that just cool the chip?

Through an few hour long play with wildland, my cards (bearing in mind there is 3rd sandwiched between them limiting airflow somewhat) and my case sucks for airflow, my cards settle in at using 53% fan speed for top card and 50% bottom card and that maintains a temp of 83 degrees and 70 degrees for bottom card which has access to more air.. In terms of clocks they stay mostly in the 1750-1810 region, normally at 1810 mhz.

Max overclocks is around 2050 - 2100, but thats the short term boost and as they warm up settles in around 2026 mhz or so. That needs a pretty high fan profile though, so don't bother running those extra 200 mhz for the increase in noise.

Yep, I've been burned in silicon lotto a few times ( especially trying to sync clocks in SLI ) .

My card gets similar clocks on stock voltage and stock FE cooler , so this round I got lucky.

I have coil whine on Passmark GPU tests with stock Air that is pretty loud. I have had this issue before when i used a crappy PSU without enough juice on the rails under load. And I am on a Rosewjll 1k junk psu while the strider is powering another temp machine right now so that where I think the reason is.

Easy swap, instead of a motherboard/ram overhaul. Then wait for Skylake-E, the 6950x will be the back up system then LoL.tongue.gif

hmm. that's a thought. When is Skylake-E supposed to be released? This year or next?

If this year, I might just part out my 2nd rig now and wait for Skylake-E to hit and make my X99 system the backup like you said - with 4x Titan XPs! tongue.gif
