If this year, I might just part out my 2nd rig now and wait for Skylake-E to hit and make my X99 system the backup like you said - with 4x Titan XPs! tongue.gif
should be this year, it's been almost 2 years since the last one. I'm waiting for Skylake e also.

just got my order of msi fe put in with ek waterblock. but i plan on running water on top card and custom aib card on bottom preferebly ftw3 when they drop. i was too impatient to just wait so do you think id have same issues you had? i had sli classifieds and top card was always much hotter.

I know its a weird combo but i been trying to get two fe but im having no luck except for friday frys had one in stock so im thinking one can hold me over for a while and just wait it out for ftw3 or something similar. i will most likely water that too but i know i'll be too excited and want to pop it in. thats why i asked.

Some thoughts for anyone lamenting the loss of the DVI port... I picked up an EVGA DisplayPort hub and it works well with a couple of DVI monitors using DP->DVI adapters. On my 1080 i had all of the ports used up so it was kind of a big loss to lose an entire port. The hub takes a single DisplayPort and turns it into 3 more ports.

You lads think its worth waiting for the non-reference cards or to hell with it and grab a FE? Want to throw one of these into my Raven ITX, blower might benefit in a small case like that I would imagine.

I'd grab a FE and just watercool it with either the EVGA Hybrid cooler, or a closed loop aio cooler and a Kraken G10. You eliminate the crazy fan noise form the blower fan and get better sustained boosts thumb.gif

EVGA 1080 Ti reporting in, see sig rig for full system specs.

With the system at full default settings, including bios set to load optimzed. I let Heaven loop for 30 minutes, then proceeded with a benchmark run. GPU Core sustained boost at 1911 MHz and Memory at 5505 MHz.

I tested for coil whine with the following:
  • Standard games list - None
  • TimeSpy - None
  • Heaven - Nothing during benchmark loop, only at loading screen
  • Valley - Coil whine like the cry of a dying monster from the abyss

I even swapped out a known good psu with no coil whine and same results as above. Something about Valley that causes the coil whine. I'm glad my standard games do not exhibit coil whine, phew. This GPU will be a keeper.

I also get whine at the heaven load screen. But no wher else thumb.gif

Push your card higher! should be able to sustain 1999-2025 easy!

I'm just testing components right now for DOA faults. Will be transitioning into water blocks as my build log progresses - that's where the overclocking will be begin.
Link to build log in my sig, come check it out if you have some time. smile.gif

Only problem I foresee is space. Don't know without doing some measurements, but I don't think I'll have the space for a rad in there.

Grab a FE now and down the road if you think you need more OC or less fan noise grab an AIO or Waterblock smile.gif At UHD 4K with a single 1080 TI with a small OC I havent seen any lag on any game at Ultra High and MAX AA etc
