This card can handle The Division @5k. Granted with some vid tweakings, but the jump in res really benefits the game visually due to the city architecture. Amazing. I'll be playing a lot more of the game now.

There has never been anything official about it.. it isn't specifically ECC, but it is similar. Search the 1080 owners' thread for "error correction" or "ecc." No doubt though, every single card (at least with gddr5x) has number if you go over, you will lose frames.

What's your performance look like at 5K?

This is what i think but i could be wrong..
When you are overclocking the memory it draws a lot more power so you start hitting the power limit harder making the card throttle core clocks even more thus lowering your score.

I ran some tests from +300 - +600 all showed improvement when not hitting the power limit. @ +600 it sure did come close thou.

+300 mem

+400

+500

+600

+700
Blackscreen

+650

So that's what i thought before i ran the test's and now it just confirms it for me....... wink.gif

It varys from 45 to 60fps. Most things on low to med settings. If I were set low for everything, id bet it would be closer to 60 most of the time. I dont mind the frame hit because i like the ao and shadows. During fire fights, it does drop to around 45fps. Very much playable. Still tweaking.

I did ram testing aswell, i used Time Spy Graphics Test 1 and compared with different vram speeds....
i can go up to +680 probably more but i don't care tbh cuz:

what i am curious about is, why i have sometimes outbursts which are giving me the underlinded higher FPS numbers than the others always pretty close in line to each other.

probably hitting the power limit even with a shunt mod. Time spy draws a ton of power.

Now i have gotten a problem the second time.
I have a seperate windows 10 installation for time spy basically. its a striped down windows 10, disabled services features and all of that stuff.
I made one 1 week ago i benched the **** out of it was getting my scores, couple days later i was getting 300ish points less constantly.
I made another fresh install, stripped the windows down etc etc. disabled windows update cuz i thought maybe that was the issue...
Now i beched the last 3 days the **** out of my card and everything was fine my scores were never below 10040 ish and went up to 10119....
But couple minutes ago i strtet benching again on that system and im getting again 300ish points less than normal all the time...
I have no idea what that crap is.... i havent changed a thing thb.... i just load my bios profile boot into that window 10 time spy system and run my tests...

has anyone an idea what this could be?mad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

It's quite well documented in the 1080 thread that memory speeds are impacted by both error correction and specific frequency. You will find that adjusting memory speeds even by 5 MHz in either direction will have an impact on your scores. There's a bit of a hill and valley effect over the course of a ~25MHz window.

There is also error correction that starts to kick in as your memory starts to hit its limits. It will cause a dip in scores when it starts to engage. This is a feature of GDDR5X that is not present in traditional GDDR5.

You're not wrong about memory power eating into your power limit, but that's secondary to other factors.

Open up heaven and pause it in a location where there's minimal movement going on in the background (like when it's staring at the cobblestone path). Watch your FPS indicator and adjust your memory speed by 5MHz. You'll see the FPS counter move around by a couple of percent each time. Use this as a tool to dial in your best overclock.
