ie. Anyone know if anyone is working on it or not?
You could do a shunt mod if you have the know how and have a little darkness in you, it's not for the faint of heart I promise....ill be trying it out myself probably, not immediately though because want to see how it runs stock then with upgraded stock then Water cooled and so on.

All you got to do is lay down a layer of liquid metal on the resistor. ez pz. Just don't get any on the rest of the components lol.

EK water block and backplate, no shunt mod, running Heaven bench at 2052 core, +604 memory, according to GPU-Z and Afterburner logs card throttles a couple seconds from going over power limit entire bench. Having block already on etc. not taking that risk for almost no gain. Stays at 2052 all except a few seconds you see. biggrin.gif

Edit: Anyone try this mod with a conductive pen? It comes off really easily, I know it's not near the conductivity of liquid metal, but wouldn't it lower the power limit enough that I wouldn't get that few seconds dip?

Gain would be minimal for sure, but the tagline of overclock.net is, "The pursuit of performance" :D

Hey guys

I picked up an EVGA 1080ti FE last week. I wanted to run some issues by yall to see if there is possibly a problem with the card.

I played BF1 yesterday and was averaging around 110FPS @ 1440p all settings maxed. I tried to run some Playerunknown's Battlegrounds and after about 4 rounds I got a crash with an error that said "insufficient video memory to load texture". I tried to reload the game and promptly crashed the next round with no error message given.

I thought this sounded like an overheating issue since it happened after a prolonged session, so I downloaded the Heaven benchmark and ran it several times, as well as keeping it on loop for about 15 minutes. I did not encounter any crashes or issues with the benchmark, and my score seemed to be in line with others @1440p and 8xAA. I also ran some Overwatch for about an hour without issues.

Now today, I have tried to run BF1 and I cannot even get in game because it crashed and I get the generic "BF1 has stopped working" error message. I ran the Heaven benchmark again and it ran correctly.

My question is, do these symptoms sound like a possible issue with this video card? I know PUBG is prone to crashing, but the error message I received about video memory threw me off. I also haven't had issues with BF1 in the past.

I am most likely looking at doing a reformat as my next step.

My specs are as follows

CPU: i7 6600k - stock
GPU: 1080ti FE - stock
Motherboard: ASUS Maxumus Hero
RAM: 16gb Gskill

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Lol no doubt, only reason I'm probably going to do it too is because I'm deliding my 6700k too so seeing as I have the clu in hand and will be doing the w/b for the gpus around same time I do the delid I figured maybe just go ahead and try....i thought about taking my two 1070 g1s from gigabyte with ek blocks on them and trying it on them first and then sell them as the gpus superman would use if he was on a slight budget lol

I mod in the pursuit of performance and for the love of it and the ability to say I went to the edge of insanity and made it back with the knowledge and power to change it into something that I can truly call mine.

I'm thinking if I only go over the power limit a few seconds on a Heaven run wouldn't a conductive pen have just enough conductivity to lower the resists enough to never go over without the risk of liquid metal?

Yeah for sure, or silver paint, or soldering on resistors, w/e works for you : )
