SO I'm sorta let down right about now. Go the card on Friday and installed it Saturday night. First thing I noticed was an annoying whine which I found out to be the infamous coil whine. It's very noticeable and annoying. Also, I think I expected far too much from this card, even for my 1080p 144hz display. I was hoping I would be able to max out all my games and hit at least 120fps so I can us ultra low motion blur, but games like Rise of the Tomb still get dips into the 90s and even the 70s. What weird is I notice sometimes that my GPU usage is pretty low.

I'm not really sure what to do. i can return the card to Amazon and hope to get another but who knows if the whine will be better. I just find it a bit disappointing that my much cheaope460 and 970 cards never had this issue at all, yet a $1100 card does frown.gif. I plan on getting a water block but apparently that won't help.

Low GPU usage is due to a CPU bottleneck.

As long as the gpu usage is hitting 99-100% when needed, cpu usage really doesn't matter because it's already feeding the gpu all it can take.

More that that, maybe but you should also think about what you upgrade target would be and i would wait till Coffee lake or Ryzen 2/3 when games start to better make use of it with cores and compatibility. Greed for the future FTW!
if he were to wait it should be for the 7740k, very obviously if gaming. That thing will hit close to 6.0Mhz

Ya'll get to posting so Im not always triple posting damnit tongue.gif
