I have a Kraken x41 on the GPU, which keeps it at 48C max on stock bios. I'm going to try the MSI one, but I get a feeling it will be the same thing.

Can do MSI BIOS same way. biggrin.gif

My 1st 980ti hybrid was good (1500mhz)but i had a replacement after i had to rma b/c of the cooler failing was booty. I then got a decent but not golden 5775c (although even bad 5775c's are crazy good), a poor 1070 that i 'borrowed' from best buy for a week waiting on my 1080ti, which then that was also was pretty much booty. I havent had a straight lottery winner since i bought my 4690k that hit 4.6 and that was before my 4790k (4.8). I am due for a golden sample and these things are binned. Come on, Silicon Goddess!

Hopefully you get something similar!

I've been lucky with the lottery too my 2600k is doing 4.8GHz on really low voltage with HT on, my old 780 Lightning I got the core at about 1.38GHz with temps within limit on air tongue.gif

I haven't tried OC'ing my Aorus yet but from what I'm reading here everything is hitting a 2.1GHz wall?

Yeah been running it for a few days. Game mode seems like a bit of a non event from my testing so far.

Don't even use Game Mode, Razer Cortez OP!! Frees up almost a GB of RAM on my system with custom boost settings. biggrin.gif

Of course, with that comes the knwledge that those 'lesser' chips gotta go somewhere so the other gigabyte editions should probably be avoided, which is probably why they call binning "gpu gauntlet" so nubz wont realize the other side of it on their other products. Like, "Hey we bin so our regular models are guaranteed to be booty".

Also, Aorus have a 4 year warranty. Not that I'll be running it four years but it's destined to be a hand me down someday ( I have three teens, 2 boys and a girl who are all gamers) so I appreciate the 4 year warranty. That is extreme!

Gigabyte Guantlet is a known process of them since 900 series. They are not "binned" like old Classies or Kingpins are. So don't expect that they will on average OC/boost higher than other brands. They just test them before putting inside their AIB. That is all. Binning is too expensive for mainstream AIB card. Pascal has its own architecture limitation which no binning will remove.

Overlock and boost is (again) exact the same as on ROG STRIX and MSI GAMING X. 2050 max.

All 1080 Ti Pascals are basicelly the same. Architecture limit.

Is the EVGA 5288 FTW Hybrid pump/radiator the exact same as the 5188 model?

Reason I ask is there mighty be issues sourcing the 5188 model locally but the 5288 may be available.

I plan on keeping the original FE shroud on so just realty need the pump/radiator.
If it's the same between the 2 kits I'll jump on the 5288.

I'm not kidding when I almost wanted to follow suit and return my FE for the Aorus. If my FE only did +120MHz core like yours did I would absolutely have done so. I'm afraid that it may be a gamble though, I'm still trying to understand how the AIB cards perform vis a vis reference and right now it looks like we are all in the same silicon lottery. Extra power, better and quieter cooling and better aesthetics are definitely compelling though.

Edit:

Yeah I think youre due for getting a golden sample. I kinda feel like my FE is near golden sample, it did 1911MHz out of the box simply putting PT to 120%. It does 2050MHz, albeit briefly. It's not doing 2100MHz, but it definitely is doing 2.025MHz.
sorry if my tale is needlessly tempting you. I think yours is golden. I bet if it was on water it'd be over 2100. The fact that you can hold mid 2000's on air is impressive. I am definitely due for golden. I will either hit this time, or I'll hit with Volta, but I am due, damnit~

yeah, on water the golden chips hit that. on air if you keep 2000+ you are very good.

All AIBs reviewed so far had no problem OCing to 2050 on air stable... in all reviews. This is a soft cap for them.

Im hitting 2.0GHz max boost on just maxing the Power to 125%. Running about 72c with 58% fan speed biggrin.gif
