NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti Owner's Club - Page 407

I guess fur mark does not do SLI?

It does manage to show some 2000+ goodness on one GPU (note the 2088 hump - that was the fur mark run - so far it doesn't seem to throttle):

Here's hoping this new card can actually truly do 4k 60fps all settings maxed.

EDIT:

Probably not though considering he's getting 48FPS min with 1080ti SLI. rolleyes.gif

Yeah, I think it'll be best to stick with the Ti SLI for 4k max 60fps. On paper the Xp still doesnt seem like it would be able to maintain 60fps in demanding titles at 4k.

I refuse to do SLi... EVER! Just seems to wasteful.

4k@144 or bust.... I really like playing at 4K, but FPS games penalize you for 60hz... So, 1440 it is until that 4K/144 monitor comes out and then whatever SLI absurdity one needs to drive it.

Given the 180-200FPS I'm seeing now at 1440p/SLI, we are getting "close"...

1440p is NOT 4k. If you wanna do 4k 144+hz max settings you'd need like 3-4 of Nvidia's next gen Ti card *Volta Ti* in order to keep up.

Lol. I supposed I have the benefit of "other things and stuff" to justify it, but particularly the "one down x2" approach (like 1080x2 or 1070x2 "back in the day" when 1080 was the new hotness) can get you some pretty impressive performance per dollar.

Assuming your game makes use of it which is a bigger problem and not improving as rapidly as one would hope.

When it works, it works very well. Most big titles support SLI now which makes it a better investment.

Im getting older, 60fps works for me still. Guessing Vega or Volta may get us there.

You misread or I mistyped. I did not mean to imply it was at all. I very much understand the jump in resources required.

I'm saying that given that we can (today) with mere TI SLI get nearly 200fps on ultra. We are getting close to the point that 4K with no MSAA (because why) and maybe some minor loss here or there) could be feasible at or near 144 within a generation.

Of course, then the next generation of games comes out and bloats it all up again... rolleyes.gif

Yup. It's a uphill/never-ending battle. rolleyes.gif
