Just about done with testing if anyone is interested, shoot me a pm.

Is that one card or SLI? I see in GPU-Z looks like you have a selection for a different card.

This is my 720p, one card.

The problem isn't that the FE cooler is bad. It's that for its sound output for its performance is quite extreme.

Yeah it's just to save that $50 to use it elsewhere in your system, like water cooling, etc.

This "cereal box" PC is a beast and you have no idea what you are talking about. Multiple posters on here have told you this.

I see your 1080 Ti FE, and will raise you two GTX 1070 FE's!!! (and a slower CPU)

The FE's aren't bad, but it's pretty common knowledge that AIB coolers are usually better. No denying how sexy the FE cooler looks, though. thumb.gif

it's better than several of the aftermarket ones in looks. It also outperforms aero, armor, and the other cheapos.

Lookswise, I like Aorus, Asus, FTW3, and FE.

And I wouldnt call the FE cooler bad. This beast is just a lot to keep cool.

Been playing with AB curve today and managed to get some more out of my card,

2126 is good at 1.062v runs to 118% power on 5 runs of benchmark

2139 seems best so far and that needs 1.075v, runs 120% power max on 5 runs

2152 maybe ok at 1.081, past once but starts power capping and does take a few dips, 1.093 takes power dips too so next step would be better bios.

benchmark is from the last big dip on clock about mid graph, and did pass ok but does dip with power limit, successive runs crashed.

seems to clock up pretty smoothly so far but maybe reaching the wall,

2101 1.043
2114 1.050
2126 1.062
2139 1.075...

one voltage bin per clock bin seems to be required at the moment

Still to play with memory, but that ain't going to help the power situation so will try that next.

So this is an e-peen battle about FE vs AIB now? Can we all settle down so that you guys can enjoy your cards instead of being at each other's throats? If you want to save money, go with a waterblock, and/or don't mind a noisy cooler go with a FE.

If you like AIB aesthetics, care about noise-to-temp ratio, and don't mind spending another $20-50 for that, go with that.

At this point, you guys aren't even arguing about differences that are down to the cooler but down to factors influenced by the 'silicon lottery'.

Yeah the whole AIB being faster days died back with the 7 series didn't it? Wasn't that the last year that the EVGA Classies were actually binned and guaranteed to OC like beasts?
