Yeah but man, isn't this thing completely beast compared to 980 TI? I'm actually seeing a 60% improvement compared to my 980 Ti @ 1500 MHz core / 8 GHz memory. That's insane. It's basically as fast as 980 Ti SLI at 1200 MHz at default clocks (1850, but actually 1080 Ti is faster in this comparison by 3-5 FPS if you watch closely) and probably as fast as 980 Ti SLI at 1350-1400MHz at 2025Mhz:

Well you went from +120 and 70C sounding like a hair drier to +162 and being whisper quiet! Congratulations.

To be honest, I don't care if this vbios never get's unlocked, the performance with it the way it is is phenomenal.
yeah, I 'm totally good now. Happy happy. This card looks so beast and now Im always gaming somewhere in the 60s quietly with 2Ghz+ steady. For my OCD gaming at 2025 or so seems so much better than 1961 or so lol. that 2Ghz mark is a killer mentally if you end up on the wrong side of it lol.

i'd say that is better than average. Average is about +100-120. some can hold +135, others +150. Very few are holding higher than that.

JESUS! I can see patience is not your strong suit. Me neither haha. I was lucky enough to grab a Gigabyte Aorus 1080 Ti on launch day. I'm on vacation right now, but it'll be waiting for me when I get home. Should be a nice upgrade from my 980 Ti!

Could that be because it's just not a golden card? So there's really no use for the extra power limit there?
If I understand that correctly, the extra power limit would still be useful then. If I go with an FE plus a waterblock, I will hit the power limit wall before hitting the 2.1GHz wall. I wouldn't want that, would I? I wanna get past the power limit wall and hopefully reach the 2.1GHz wall.
So like my question above, what does power limit really signify when watercooling?
Let's just say, hypothetically, I can get under 40C with watercooling. I would have the room to add more voltage and consequently draw more power. But if I go with an FE card, I wouldn't have that room since I will be power-limited, right?

Yes!!! You will be power limited big time if it's anything like my card. My temps have never gone over 36c ever since putting on my waterblock even when trying for 2.1 GHz and voltage at 1.093. It may allow you some room to do lower volts to hit some max clocks. I tested mine last night at 1.031 volts at 2063 core. Power limit for these is my only limitation right now.

I have always been an early adapter. I don't wait for any price drops. Very nice. You are lucky to get that on launch day. Lucky you to be on Vacation. The sad part about my Story is that I just bought (2) GTX 1080 Gaming X last week. lol. But I saw these 1080 Ti, and I just had to have them.

Those are some fantastic temps under water! With my 980 Ti I get around 46C under load. I'm interested in seeing what the temps will be like when EK releases the waterblock for my Aorus.

I have an EVGA card and it was running great on air, overclocked well and all was good except for the atrocious fan noise.
So I decided to finally go with a full custom water loop. I got an EK Titan water block and back plate. Followed directions and was pretty meticulous. Went to fire it up and all the lights came in for a split second than click and nothing. I checked the PSU. So I tested it thouroughly and moved on to testing on the bench. I thought it was motherboard so i got another motherboard. Then I thought it was CPU so I got another CPU.

Same thing happened. So I went back to the PSU and tested one connection at a time. It posted with everything connected. Last thing to connect was GPU. It would not turn on. I removed the card and everything turned on. So power to the GPU wether it is actually in the PCIE slot causes nothing to turn on. In slot but no power system will turn on.

What would cause this? Am I correct that my GPU is dead? It must be a short that is causing the system to shut down.

Now I am really worried. If I get a replacement GPU, will this happen again? Did I damage the new mobo and CPU?

I will try and get my hands on another video card to test.

Any ideas, tips, suggestions???

Thanks!!!
dang, dude, wish i knew what to say but if your rig starts w/o gpu but doesnt with it hooked up, it's the gpu. Maybe you forgot to plug something back in when you installed the waterblock? made sure your 8-pin/6-pin are ALL the way in? Tries reinstalling the og cooler and see if it will post (if not card is borked)?
