So I've picked up and installed an evga 1080ti today and got an EK block on it. My question is...should I grab another? I'm currently on an asus PG279Q which is 165hz 1440p. 80% of the games I'm either playing or would like to start soon are officially "sli supported" per the Nvidia website. I've never been sli before. When asus launches the PG27UQ (4K 144hz) I'll buy that. That's supposed to be Q3. Should I stay one 1080ti till the 4K monitor and maybe have more info on Volta (currently slated for sometime in 2018) or grab a second 1080ti and play at super fast 1440p now and be prepared for the 4K monitor when it launches??

Those just getting started with real gpu overclockling for this gpu (like me), start here:

http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/nvidia-titan-x-(pascal)-overclock-guide,1.html

mine will go into my loop later in the year when I'm ready to go with rigid tubing. getting rid of that thermal throttle is key!

Now have two 420 rads, currently only cooling my vrms and cpu, should have enough headroom.

I'm going dual GPU for my work, 3D animation, particle effects, GPU rendering.. which the more the better..

I'm also doing it because I have a triple monitor (7680x1440) setup. With my dual 980ti's I've had to take it down to 5760x1080 on many games.

I know that, with those games that will support either SLI or surround, having that second card will help me tons for the native resolution, since I'm about 3million pixels over a 4K screen with the triple setup. If one can make 4k scream, then two should do it for past 4K renderings.

I will report my results once they finally show up which won't be till next week.

For you, I would only get a second one if you really think you're seeing a performance degradation. Live with the first one for a few months, play lots of games.. By then there will be better stock of the card, and then you can finally decide if you need two. Since it's on a custom water loop, have some fun overclocking it! mess with the voltages! see what it can do!

EDIT:I am putting both on water with EK blocks once my wallet has a second to breathe wink.gif maybe next month

How do I unlock the voltage slider in Afterburner and I use the latest version, right?

With just power limit at 120% on my Gigabyte FE I'm getting +144 core, +512 memory stable in Firestrike Ultra stress test, TimeSpy and Metro Last Light Redux benchmark maxed out. biggrin.gif

To unlock the voltage, you have to go into settings and unlock it. Should be with the cog wheel, and check the box to unlock voltage.

If I don't care about looks, can I get away with putting my 980ti's hybrid cooler on my 1080ti without cutting/permanently modding any of it?
