NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti Owner's Club - Page 458

Nice! I'll try 2075 @ 1.05v to see if my card can swing that.

I really hope the 150% isn't only for the extreme card. I'll definitely be flashing if so.

Yeah, overclocking nvidia is complete garbage. I'll be jumping ship to Vega when possible, if only because AMD doesn't meddle with what I'm allowed to do with the hardware I own.

It's deeper than that.

You have power limiting, thermal throttling and voltage limiting.

We discuss the balance of all 3, not just 50 Mhz.

I am satisfied b/c my FE was a dog and i got at least a 'silver' aorus lul. Although my FE could hit +700+ on the mem before artifacting (never actually saw any. who knows how much farther it could have gone, although probably not much) and this one artifacts in Heaven at +420. rolleyes.gif

oh, here's a better pic of a full run. This time i got zero power throttles. I am at 125% and 90c temp target, no extra volts. 1.05v locked.

I can make it hit 2100 and hold thru a bench, but these are at a game stable setting.

**pic: im lonely hehe

As a refresher, what happened to the Gigabyte bios? No one was able to flash those and get them to work?

the way the power phases are (i suspect) cause it to run way low power and clocks on fe. i know giga uses 14+2 phases but also uses a low current, high phase switching, and a quadrupler in there somewhere. End result: no bueno for FEs.

I just busted a barrier (for me) of 7500 firestrike ultra. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/19172743?

Im done benching. I have top score on my cpu in all the firestrike main tests (main four) now, lol. That's a wrap.

For reference, here is THE HIGHEST single Ti, 4 core cpu build's score in the world. I am only 300 points behind. Dang. No catching that i dont guess, but i take solice in the fact we are both the same percentage vs the world .

That's reaching pretty hard. None of those 3 aspects are even "limits" on a partner card. Sounds like trying to artificially make OCing these fun again when in fact you're either around 2050mhz or lucky and at or slightly above 2100mhz.

Have fun.

So yeah... Looks like 150% is reserved only for Extreme cards. Time to flash this GPU.

i bet it works fine. may not need the whole 150% anyway. Only time i power throttle (i always am monitoring) i see it's like 130%, 129%, 131%. I am pretty sure we'd be gucci with 135%.

Please post the extreme bios when you find it.

you're right but you're also poo-pooing on what we have left, which admittedly isnt much. We ahve had to expand the topic a bit beyond just overclocking, that's for sure.

In a nice way, you're trying to tell us we are wasting our time. But without this community the following would have not been discovered.

1. A voltage curve can help you with stability. People have gotten past 2000 Mhz to get to 2088Mhz or even more.
2. Flashing the ASUS Bios gives you an additional 30 Watts. This has helped eliminate 75%+ of the power limiting you would experience in 1 hour game session.

And yeah, one day we might find a bios that gives us 50 Watts or 75 Watts. That will be number 3.

If I did the shunt mod, I could be playing at 2114-2128 Mhz. That would be 15% extra performance over stock clocks at 1850 Mhz. But I don't want to do the shunt mod, and hopefully a bios is discovered.

So yeah, **** please tongue.gif

Yeah, I just tested the Gigabyte Extreme bios and no bueno like you said. Won't go past 0.7V.

Awesome scores BTW.

I think I've exhausted my research and mastering of OCing this card. Hopefully something else comes up later. Time to play games biggrin.gif
