dont do it, it can degrade your solder to room temps and eat through the whole shunt resistor.

That is very rare.
And depends on the solder / Liquid Metal paste being used.

And so far i have ONLY seen ONE case of that happening. But then again, caution is always better.

So I had some interesting results with the STRIX bios.

I've settled on 2000MHz at 1.0 volts as the lower voltage gets me about 5c cooler temperatures.

On the stock FE bios I was getting all three perfcaps at once and I wasn't even hitting the power limit (max of 110%) and got a 97.3 Heaven FPS.

On the STRIX BIOS, same settings, there were no perfcaps, max power limit hit was 96% and got a 99.3 Heaven FPS.

Can anybody explain this to me? I thought the STRIX BIOS would only help me if I was hitting 120% on the stock BIOS?

I've heard of 2 or 3 (one may have been the same dude) out of hundreds, true, but we dont always hear the after story. Of course It's probably fine, I just go by the rule if you are going risky it needs to have a big payoff and I don't think this qualifies. I don't have the money to gamble with $700+ cards for one or two bins, but I don't begrudge those that do.

Yeah, at least on the 1080Ti's the results are not worth the Liquid Metal Shunt mod. It barely helped.

imo, if one were hell bent on avoiding power throttle, sell the FE and get an Aorus.

Nope waiting for the EVGA Classified. Right now the 3-5fps advantage isnt worth the cost. tongue.gif At least for FE owners.

I wish I had the patience to wait for a classy, those have always been my goto model. I freaking LOVE a beefier, copper card. But I fear they'll release a month or two before Volta. I hate the timing on release of 3rd party cards now-a-days. Look at the Arus 1080. It came out a month before Ti dropped.

Yeap, and that is why love EVGA and their StepUP Program.

Yeah and Nvidia will probably release a refresh of the 1080 ti with all CUDA cores at the same price point. tongue.gif Now you never know. I'm pleased with my card. But I would be rather steamed if I had bought the older Titan Xp.
