Agreed, and apparently i am in the minority on this (lol, I'm shocked) but I think the 7740k will be a nice chip. It could clock over 5.5ghz with that extra power headroom and process improvements should net at least a 4770k vs Devil's Canyon situation, and that isn't really even accounting for the increased overclock headroom more power and a way better platform will bring. I am unsure how they will TIM the thing but if it is like all the other HEDT than it will crush a 7700k so to speak (and even if it's craptastic reggie TIM like a 7700k, a delid would do the trick), as well as leaving several future upgrade paths. If I were building now I'd wait, and try to save as much dough as I could in case I decided to go Skylake-X, which will be nasty, too.

Don't like the 7700k running hot my 2600k runs way cooler at 4.8GHz. Waiting for Ryzen to mature and for intel's next offering.

I wonder if my PCI-E 2.0 bus may be limiting my 1080 Ti??

Almost 7 fps higher mins. Last week you almost convinced me to try the 5775c.
Only thing is I'm already planning a platform update (6core+) at the end of the year.

It looks great to me, brother. It's a balls to the wall OC squeezing what you can but is pretty damn stable. If you can go play 3 straight hours of your most demanding title without crashing than you should be Gucci.

Battlefield One is great because you are testing OC on a new cpu and a new gpu, and that game pushes both hard at 144 fps in 1440p. Eitehr you driver crash (freeze then eventually recovery), than that is gpu. If it hard freezes and screams 'beeep, buuuzz' at you than that is your cpu needing more voltage (usually).

Util means the GPU driver detected that the load isn't high enough to warrant higher clock states so it's downclocking the GPU.

Interesting that you have all 4 PerfCaps active at one point...

If I'm testing let's say 2050 @ 1.031 does it matter if my voltage slider is 0% or 100%?

now THAT's better smile.gif what are your gpu clocks? Too bad the benchmark doesn't show them, it's the only thing I'm missing there.
my Gigabyte FE seems like a power hog, I have a 2012MHz OC dialled in at 1.043V via the curve, but in FS Extreme/Ultra and SuPo 4k+ it hits the power limit hard and downclocks to anywhere between 1980-1930 with the voltage dropping below 1.000V to keep it under 120%.
I wonder if I should take it apart and connect the pump to the mobo/psu rather than the card itself to save some power thinking.gif I just don't feel like dismantling it anymore, for the 6th time now doh.gif

Ok, what I can do and what does it mean? And why it is interesting? mad.gif

Slim said I should score higher in Heaven with those clocks so is there anything wrong with my card?

might be worth it just in the short term, too, since it can be had for ~$50-75 on the switch, and the resell value on a 5775c is basically full price tongue.gif In fact, they will sell out the last they made and then the used ones will go for over $400-500 redface.gif It will always have a certain following/allure , at least longer than most cpus.
But, I am a bit tempted by skylake-x myself. Looks sexy, and I've been wanting a 8 core, too. In the future with scorpio being the lead game developer platform 8-cores should scale in every game and then my cache magic no longer wins the day.

That's not how I understand it. Util means there's no activity on the card. It's always Util until you give the GPU something to do.
