Hello, im planning on getting a 1080 Ti the next days, but i have a problem with it.....

My PC:

CPU: i5 2500k at 4.2 (can try to push a bit more but im a bit bad with OC)
MB: AsRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen 3
Ram: G.Skill RipJaws X 1600 x12 GB
PSU: EVGA 650w plus Gold
GPU: AMD HD 6850 (i had previously a 970 that i sold planning to get a 1080Ti or a 1080)

Monitor: Dell S2716DG, G-Sync 2560x1440p 144Hz (here is the biggest problem)

As i bough this monitor recently (i was having the 970 yet) i saw devastating performance drop on my games, as would be normal, changing to 1440p was good but hell, my PC wouldnt handle it, i didnt care so much cause Ryzen was coming soon, and 1080 Ti as well so i was planning to change my PC soon, thats why i sold my 970 (it was the last week).

I wanted to upgrade to Ryzen, but with all the problems on it, super low Stock on Mobos, i decided to not move to Ryzen, at least not yet, maybe w8 for R5 or reconsider to get an i7 6700K or 7700K.

What i know is that i will end buying an 1080Ti alone or with a full PC but now im worried as well about... is there a big differ on perfomance between the Founder Edition than the Customs one? and will my PC Bottleneck it?(im planning to play at 1440p) of course im not expecting to get the same FPS as a top Ryzen or i7 but with the GTX 970 was a bit sad to play at 1440p on Ultra in games like Bf1, i just dont want to upgrade the card if the improvement gonna be just a little more comparead to the 970 cause my PC bottleneck it, and yeah im planning to change my PC so will be temporal, but maybe something happens and cant change the rest of my PC in a while thats why i care.

So need an honest opinion.

Well i'm running the FE but i would recommend pushing your cpu as much as you can this card really loves high clocks.

Your cpu will bottleneck it a fair amount, you will suffer low minimums.

but you will see nice performance on average over your current card.

Well i have a i3-6300 that i use in my media server. I used it to test the cards prior to putting their WB's on yesterday. It ran doom at highest pre-set "ultra" at about 120FPS. It was impressive. It scored low in 3d mark, but not by a huge margin.

And why about the differ performance between the FE and Customs one? would be mainly temps?

Just temps maybe pre overclocked.

Just had an email from Nvidia saying my 1080Ti is on back order, anyone here have a clue when that will be, the sale went fine, order confirmed and was given Estimated delivery date for next week... Quite annoying.

But the thing is that I will upgrade to a higher-resolution monitor in the future anyway. So if I still go with the 1080Ti (from a 1070), will I be making the right choice or not? Is a CPU bottleneck bad if the GPU can render the game to its max fps?
