It bit much to ask, but it would be nice to see how much you can draw without power limiting. just run the same test but keep lowering the clocks until it does limit anymore. Remember its not about how high you clk or score, just interested in power smile.gif

I don't power limit at 2025 core, .981v, +618 memory in TimeSpy or Superposition 4K Optimized. The pic is my TimeSpy run. smile.gif

Asus BIOS and still getting a respectable score. biggrin.gif

This is same clocks but tweaking the Nvidia control panel settings, only 100 points behind my best ever score. smile.gif

Edit: Now to test stock BIOS at same settings. redface.gif

Stock BIOS, no throttling, 2012 core, .962v, 6147 memory, just a bit less than Asus BIOS in TimeSpy.

This is what I've been wondering this whole time. The voltage curve thing is confusing as hell. It's not consistent an doesn't make sense.

I can run heaven all day long at a constant clock and voltage and no perf caps but run other games or benchmarks it jumps all over the place. Basically I don't think there's any way to do that in every application. It's impossible. We're trying for the impossible lol

This is 4K Optimized at Asus BIOS 2088 1.075v. 6142 memory.

This is stock BIOS 2062 1.031v 6142 memory.

And all my games I run 4K so I'm definitely going with the Asus BIOS. smile.gif

If you folks really want to see some power-throttling insanity, try running it in 'custom' mode with 8k resolution, but with the '4k optimized' shaders.

On my 1070 with a 200w power limit (up from 150w default, so 33% higher!) I get no throttling at all in 8k res with the 8k shaders, but it hits that power limit hard with the '4k optimized' shaders.

It might not be obvious, but the '4k optimized' shaders are less complex than the '8k optimized' shaders, and both of those are less complex than the Medium or Extreme ones.

On 4k Extreme on my 1070, it only gets like 2.5fps, haha. Even if this benchmark supported SLI (which it doesn't for now), 4-way SLI Titan Xp would still be a slideshow at 4k Extreme.

Asus BIOS at 2062 1.025v, no shunt mod, barely throttles, can do memory higher than stock BIOS stable at +659.

Broke 10400 with 2025 at .981v 6177 memory, best score yet, no throttling. ph34r-smiley.gif

I didn't do the screenshot right away so the Util in GPU-Z is when the bench wasn't running, the clear area was when it was on. wth.gif

Now to run TimeSpy again. biggrin.gif

They kept it at 30% and the VRMs never went above 70C. So 15 watts extra would literally be nothing, maybe raise you to 73C and still half of the maximum temperature these VRMs can take which is 150C.

Well that's good to know. Those fans get really loud above 50%.

Yes, Strix BIOS. and really close to my best TimeSpy score at these CPU clocks as well, zero throttling. thumb.gif

Games don't matter really for me. I have a 4K G-Sync screen with Rivatuner capping framerates at 59, one less than my refresh rate, and clocks never max out even on highest detail settings in the games I play the most.

It all about waving my huge e-____ around and benching. wink.gif
