I got the Asus Strix OC 1080 Ti, and I expected the core clock to be at 1700Mhz~ (as the official specs show), yet when I plugged it in and opened Afterburner, it showed that the actual clock was 1960Mhz.
I didn't touch anything, the overclock was at +0. then I put +90 on the overclock to reach 2050Mhz and it worked fine.

Does Afterburner overclock it by default? Was my card overclocked that high from manufacture? Am I missing something? I was expecting to overclock my card manually up to +350Mhz, yet it seems all I needed was +90Mhz to reach 2050Mhz.

Thanks and sorry for my english!

That's GPU boost 3.0 working its magic. With good temps and a mostly more aggressive fan profile from the AIB, the GPU will boost on its own based on factors of temperature and GPU usage alone. I believe mine currently will boost to around 1974 with nothing done to the card. Sounds like you've got good temps and a decent card to boot wink.gif.

So the gains could possibly apply to 3dmark, but not for unigine? Any particular reason?

Part of the club again with the Aorus

EDIT: Getting VERY close to my 6950x @4.3. That setup with the Aorus would get 1524

This was achieved with the RyZen 1700 @ 4.0. thumb.gif

Did anyone try to disasamble 1080 TI ROG STRIX? Or found a video of someone doing it? I want to see if 1080 TI also have those stupid warranty stickers below backplate.

On my ASUS FE card, there is a warranty sticker on one of the cooler screws. My Gigabyte FE doesn't have that sticker wink.gif
Therefore I guess the Strix will have one too.

Guise guise I found a use for the intel stock HSF.
To the naysayers, the backplate definitely works as a heatsink, its just a matter of getting moar cooling on to it.

Dropped load temps by around 5-10 degrees. Also lets a nice breeze go around the VRAM area too. Now to get a more powerful fan....

Thank god Australian law doesn't recognise the legitimacy of warranty stickers. All manufacturers must give 2 years regardless of policy and the consumer is entitled to fully disassemble the hardware to inspect, as long as nothing was damaged/modified upon re-assembly the warranty still holds.
