Thanks. I ran mine again and got 10512. Not sure why it would be slower... I have a 2700K @ 4.8GHz, maybe my CPU is gimping the 1080 Ti?

Yeah, you need to compare graphics scores without the CPU score in the screenshots, to left of CPU score. smile.gif

Alright, overclocking done for today, some results:

Firestrike (32k GPU Score): http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/19385621

Firestrike Extreme (15.6k GPU Score): http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/19385311

Firestrike Ultra (7.7k GPU Score): http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/19385522

Time Spy (10.8k GPU Score): http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/19386518

2038 curve OC and +750 on mem. I'm severely power limited but I don't really want to shunt mod the card.

The good news is you can deal with coil whine by padding them with something to dampen the vibration. This usually gets rid of 80% of the coil whine. It can be as involved as spreading hot glue around each choke. Don't worry, its extremely removable.

If ur lazy like me, just run a long strip of Seksui Thermal adhesive across the top of all the inductors (but don't remove the white paper bit) and that also does the job. I did this to my AMD 290 Tri-X and haven't had noticeable coil whine in years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coil_noise#Reducing_coil_noise

Bear in mind coil whine is not actually indicative of the quality of the inductors used. Special low noise units do exist (usually at a drawback of cost, heat or current limitations) but I haven't seen a GPU manufacturer use low noise inductors since iirc Gigabyte a few years back with those "ultra durable" branded solid ferrite chokes.
Thank you for the tip.
But removing the cooler will void the warranty...
And if it was that simple, why manufacturers do nothing about it?

Love my 1080 Ti, it even forced me into upgrading my old 2560x1600 30" xhd which by the way still works LOL but damn I should have waited for a AIB card.

Because the chokes should be bare and have a fan blowing over them, lol. Don't put too much hot glue.

I got lucky both with the core and the memory but I'm still power limited. Wish we could mod our bios like we did with Maxwell, oh well rolleyes.gif

You're not done until you do 4K optimized bench!
