His theory is that the voltage curve doesn't give you true clocks and he ignored that everyones system performs differently. He's critical about 100 points in a 10,000 score which is literally a 1% difference. 1 fps can literally change the score to +125 points.

And to prove him even more wrong, I did a clock at 2088 Mhz and compared it at 2152 Mhz. It obviously scaled properly. So my system is bottle necked elsewhere, but not the card.

This guy just needs to get over his epeen. It's like he used to have a huge member and it blew up and now he's stuck with an average one but likes to show people photos of his old big one.
the 5775c would help. at some point we are probably ram bottlenecked b/c running a 5775c and 1080ti is a lot for ddr3 to handle i think. It does well, those. check out what I finally figured out. I guess Im just slow lol. Here is 2 maps full playthru of BF1. All jus copy my post from Aorus forum.

EUREKA. Guys, REMEMBER, I am on air, too. I did stick a heatsink on my copperplate and gained 5c somehow lol. that and the thermal pasting. Also, I will admit my computer's window was open for this30 minute session, but it's only 72f in the house so not really cheating there.

Here is my run in Battlefield One, two maps, ZERO PERFCAPS. I take back what I've been screaming about voltage with caveats. 1, know all your stable clocks at all voltages well before you mess with it. Also, these still hate 1.93v (mine does) and isnt all that great with 1.8, either, but if i run a +90 curve (which would be +179 on a founder's edition) and +51Mv and lock as you see in the pic, it doesnt crash. Gave me my highest SuPo score, too. And I just hat 142 locked in Battlefield One all Ultra except I run post process at medium b/c i think it looks better and gives me a couple fps. I was 142 lock, it only dropped into the 130s while in full sprint in a heavy battle 64 man multiplayer map and as soon as i stopped running it was 142 locked again. NO PERF CAPS AT ALL.

Look at those temps, that clock. Aorus FTW!@!!!

Good luck, guys, it took me awhile to figure this out.

Shoggy has advised that since the 1080 Ti pcb does not have memory chips on the backside, there's no need for pads.... Duh, lol. Brain fart on my end there. tongue.gif
There's a small thermal pad for the VRM though.

Agreed, I don't have the best ram either. This will probably be close to the end of my PC's generation. Next generation we might get PCI-E 4.0 and I'll be really behind. But for now, I don't mind the 1% bottleneck I'm dealing with a 4790K and ram at 1888 Mhz.

Anyways, for me to run 1.093v, my system draws close to 400 watts on the card. So I've backed it down to 1.072v. And I'm going to try and back it down to 2114 Mhz at 1.062v.

So what you are saying makes sense. Lower voltage is still the safer and better way to go. I understand why NVIDIA limited the voltage to 1.092v, it's because the cards are drawing a lot of power to run these cores in the 2000s.

No way would anyone be able to do anything with the old 1.187v we used to get.

Do you got a picture of your heatsink on the back of your card? Lol. I want to see it.

Andromeda is running 2025 pretty solid at 4k mid 60s, gets about 70 tops and drops to 2000.

Need a few fan suggestions if possible and if that's normal to see fan speed fluctuate like that. It's about 3 seconds, 0 then 59, 0 then 59 etc.
The fan has "fan stop" and the default curve kicks in at like 50c or something, i dont remember, i changed it immediately to kick off at 35c instead. Set up a fan curve that hits 100% at 49c for best effect. these are super quiet even at 100%, quieter than an FE at 40%. Look at my above post. I also stuck a finned aluminum heatsink on top of my backplake and connecting with the copper. It gets hot fast so it's working. Put an sp fan pointed right at it.

Also, a repaste of these is a must if you want great temps. Use thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and do the full coverage spread method.

If you look above I am at 32c idle and maxed at 45c in BF1 64man map, in 1440p 142fps Ultra.

*pic is trash, used my son's tablet and the lighting was terrible, it hates the LEDs i think. My phone is terrible so, best i can do on the quick. it' a 100mmx30mmx18mm or something like that. I can't find my fujipoly pads i had left so it's sittin there dry and working so it is definitely 'a thing'. i could paste it but that's messy. I dont feel like spending $20 for a thumb sized piece of fuji so im still trying to find my stash but no luck.

I think the EVGA cooling plate works better than the one on my new Seahawk 1080 ti as the air coming out the back of the Seahawk isn't that hot ... but man, my EVGA Hybrid kit was shooting 110F+ degree air out the back of the card which was crazy to me as that was the same temp as the radiator was exhausting ... can't believe those heat sinks made the difference but have ordered some nice Enzotech sinks to put on the cooling plate of the Seahawk just to see ...

I sent you a PM thumb.gif

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice. I have an Asus Strix OC that has a bit of coil whine. It's not awful but I can hear it in quieter parts of games and it annoys me that a card this expensive comes with any sort of issue at all. I've spoken to my retailer and it looks like they'll let me return it based on coil whine but from what I've been reading I could well end up with one that's worse. I guess I'm wondering do I stick with a card that's not too bad and be happy with it or take a gamble on returning and see what I get back? I really can't decide at this point. Thanks!
