hwinfo might not work and I've been trying to figure it out.

My card gives hwinfo my card specs, which is 300 watts is my maximum. It looks at my power use, and if it's 100%, then it reports 300 watts.

But I am shunt modded. my card can draw way more than 300 watts now. When I'm at 75% power usage, it reports 225 watts. But my PSU actually shows I'm drawing 100-110 more watts than at stock.

If you change it to look like the original ones curve it should get rid of that limit smile.gif

Yeah they are both FE EVGA cards and they both have the same Bios.

I have changed the curve to match my first card and I still get the same problem. No matter what settings I put this card at be it stock, overvolted etc it hits the Voltage Limit. frown.gif

Nope don't need one. In fact this bios throttles at even lower voltage than the original bios. i could run unigine 1080p extreme with 1.075v-1.063v while this bios with throttle all the way down to 1.063 -1.031 with lower scores as well.

aye I see what you mean; with shut mod your right of course.. the reported power draw will be wayyy off in hwinfo64

in the past I've combined it using watt meter (plugged between PSU and wall) to make a rough (but decent) estimation/validation using befores & afters
(I've noticed this is often always also necessary sometimes if using a cross-flashed BIOS)

Yeah, I can't investigate the exact power draw because I am not shunt modded. We would need someone with a PSU to measure power draw from the wall to really see what's going on.

I don't trust software since we are technically changing it.

HWinfo works well if we don't do any modifications. But once you perform modifications, it can throw it off either at the software or hardware level. Same thing witht he Nvidia power commands, it doesn't read my power draw correctly anymore.

I flashed the Palit bios a few hours ago but haven't had the time to do any proper testing yet. I have a Corsair power supply which can read power draw using the Link software but won't be able to test it until tomorrow. Any specific way I should measure? Haven't used Corsair Link in like ages.

I posted earlier on what to do. You want to flash stock bios first.

Make sure your computer is running the same in both scenarios, so for me I maxed out all of my fans and pump in my system. Take screenshot of your system at idle with all fans at 100%

Run furmark just for 15 seconds (not even close enough to harm your PC) and it will measure your maximum power draw. Take screenshot

Then do the same with palit bios. Take screenshot at idle and then take screenshot with furmark run.

The most important is comparing the max power draw screenshot of both bios.

If we see 40-60 watt difference, then you're definitely pulling more than 300 Watts. If we see it around 10 watts of one another, then we're not seeing anything frown.gif

Lets hope we see that extra 50!

This is me comparing the stock bios and shunt mod. Getting around 100 extra watts of power draw.

Are you running an FE? You'd be the perfect person to test this for us. Just record the highest number you see via recording with your phones camera.
