NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti Owner's Club - Page 8

Any thoughts on who will release the pre-binned non-reference cards first? I plan to watercool these cards anyway, but after owning a reference 780 Ti and a non-reference Gigabyte 980 Ti Gaming G1 GPU, I think I'll wait for someone to release their pre-binned non-reference card. The better air cooling on the Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti Gaming G1 was wasted since I removed it, but I am willing to wait for non-reference with a high ASIC score and the ability to use NVFLASH to unlock the voltage controls and overclocking ability. I don't have a lot of patience though. It looks like Asus and EVGA will have the first non-reference cards available, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before all the other manufacturers release their souped up version. Luckily, EK made a waterblock for the Gigabyte's non-reference 980 Ti Gaming G1 GPU, but I don't think all non-reference cards had a waterblock available for it. From what I remember, I think I ran my Gigabyte 980 Tis on air for 6 months or so until the waterblock was available.

This card, no matter which version, is going to be a beast. I just need to try not reading anyone's reviews or else I'll make an impulse purchase.

So far I've read that asus and evga will have their respective 1080ti ready on launch day with the FE.

So, a little bit of advice is needed.

I plan to upgrade to a 1080 Ti and as I've just installed a custom water cooling loop to my build I'd like to add it to that.

Is it better to buy a reference card and buy a block separately or should I wait for the likes of EVGA's Hydrocopper and MSI's Seahawk EK and buy one of those?

Have the same thing on my mind. And from what I've read so far its better to wait.
Even if one of those water cooled cards from factory wont pop anytime soon or never... its till better to buy an aftermarket "pre-binned non-reference card" card than reference..
But that is just my toughs...thumb.gif

Will a 980ti classified water block work with a reference card or should I wait for the classified version. I can only wait until October.

980ti block will be inconpatible. As of right now the titan x pascal is the only compatible waterblock

If you want to water cool and are the kind of person who wants to go their own block then reference is the way to go since it provides the best option for different manufacturers water blocks. If you don't want to put your own block on and are happy with a pre-installed solution then you have to wait for those cards to be released.

I myself like the option of choosing the block I want.

None of the custom pcb 1080s were binned. Just look at reviews for cards like the HOF that can't hit 2100 while almost every 1080 FE can go over it. Maxwell wasn't much better with asic binned kingpins. Any card had the chance to go 1500mhz with proper cooling.

Cooling is the only difference with all the cards. IMO, the 1080 FE cards clocked higher in general. That's why I am going with another FE and waterblock.

Got 2 Ti's pre ordered with Nvidia, now it's just a matter of playing the waiting game. It's a shame Nvidia are being so vague with the shipping/release dates though.
