OC the core first, then find your max mem....if you lose a few bins off your core, that's fine. You'll find your FR's are still higher versus lowing the mem for those last extra core mhz, and if they aren't it's because the memory is unstable.

Thanks for detailed input. I got the Strix OC on air and i can get 2063mhz stable in the games i play (andromeda and BF1). But if i increase the memory to +250 it throttles or won't go past 1950 on the core or something? Do i need to give it more voltage on the curve, or just dial back the core and find middle gorund?

I don't think I've ever dropped more than 2 bins after maxing out the memory on my XP's. Ti's at +250 I drop no bins at all. Losing 100+ on the core with just +250 on memory is definitely not normal. I would play around with the curve/voltage, run some high resolution tests etc

That's why i haven't bothered much with the memory. Cause even with default curve or fixed +50 or whatever on core. If i cross over +200 memory it's like i choke the whole card and it runs rampant around 1850-1950 and doesn't know what to do. I feel that i've nailed stable core clocks with the curve on this card. But once i add memory clocking to the mix, everything goes out the window.

EDIT: It's even worse than i thought. I took 2 screenshots. First is 1999mhz on core and +100 memory, on 1,05v. Second screenshot is just adding +50 more to mem without changing anything. Look how it behaves. Voltage crashes and goes up and down 100 on the core and cant get stable anywhere. Default voltage curve.




Any ideas? I have open return, should i return it?

well that was interesting! thumb.gif that's quite the set-up there

It was interesting watching the nvidia gpu information on the side screen, it's crazy that the watts jump around that much during the benchmark, sometimes a swing of 50W or more depending on the scene.

Sure removed the curve, then my card default clocks to 1987, but has Pwr and VRel perf caps. But it has stable clock and voltage at least. Then i add memory clock (this time i got to 200 before it started acting up).

EDIT: It fluctuates between almost 1750 and 1910 something. It looks terrible.

Doesn't seem like it has any effect. AB version is the latest 4.3.0 stable one.

Same thing here. Memory when OCed is a great power eater so we should find kind of balance between ocing memory and core not to hit the limits and getting this crazy freq and volt jumping.

Good to see that it is not just me. But you say it is a great power eater, and it shows "Pwr" on perf caps. But the TDP hardly goes over 103% so i just cant seem to wrap my head around why it does that.
