crazy. My Aorus at 100% fans is about like an FE at 40% to me ears. I wonder how much difference there really is between card to card. It sounds like every component can have variance. A card may be 50% louder of 50% better at not leaking voltages, etc etc

I don't understand the comments like this. The FE's are way too loud in my case and I have an h440. My 980ti SC was a louder two fan card and it was dead silent in my case. That cards replacement the 1080ti Strix OC it just sounds like the computers off. FE's are only good from EVGA since you would want to/need to water cool them. also not lose out on warranty. To say they perform the same acoustically on AIR is insane IMO.

so, your mems are just trash OCers, but the card still wants bandwidth. So, I would stay at +178 on the memory and go with your best curve. Then you at least hit the 500GBPS mark on bandwidth, you avoid the strange downclocking behavior altogether, and you don't lose any bins.

Aorus is just hella quiet, man, I don't know what to tell you. It also performs temp-wise (after re-paste w/ 100% fans; which are quiet) almost as well as a Hybrid AIO on a FE does- ~55c loaded in games.

I was responding to the comment you were. I assumed it copied what you replied to. I know those are quiet. The FE's are not.

well, damn, son, go get the latest afterburner so you can give it a drink of volt. It needs a +25 or a +50 maybe, and it may stabilize.

yeah, no doubt. FE at 100% was worse than a PS4. And I don't get how his ASUS is too loud, either. Maybe he got a weird one. But he did say it was more the sound signature or pitch than it was the decibels that was bothering him.

This is weird, I got 11054 GPU score with no shunt mod, drawing 100 watts less: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/19479512

Maybe your CPU is holding you back? What is your memory OC?

Edit: Oh 1513, maybe that's what is holding back your score.

Hi guys,

thermal question here.

I bought an Arctic Thermal Pad.

Do you know if i'll get any benefit, if i put a thermal pad between the back of the GPU resistors and the backplate?

The back of the GPU chip, don't make contact on the backplate, so is not disipating any heat.

It's safe to put a thermal pad there or better leave as is?

Maybe your CPU is holding you back? What is your memory OC?

Edit: Oh 1513, maybe that's what is holding back your score.

Memory is at +550 which is like 6050 mhz. GPU-Z doesn't know how to report it.

I don't think it's my CPU, Timespy and all 3DMark software is jacked up on my system. It literally takes it 15 minutes to finally start a run. So I have issues running it. Sometimes it doesn't even give me a score, it will error right away and then the benchmarks start and will all run through anyways. Initially it didn't even launch until I messed around with some things on my system.

Superposition just works best for me. But again, I am CPU bottlenecked, my minimums could be higher if I had a better CPU.

I haven't redone this test with +550 memory though, below is +450 memory.

Not sure if messing with the control panel will increase my scores. I haven't done anything to my nvidia control panel, turning off aero for Windows 10, etc. Anyone have a comment on how this stuff affects your score?
