Use this Afterburner, just install it, enable 'Third party' and 'unlock voltage control' and 'voltage monitoring' in preferences, done!!

Are there any benchmarks that show the gain in fps / benchmark scores over going from DDR3 to DDR4 (with higher clockspeeds) on intel platform? I know the new Ryzen CPU's gain considerable amounts from higher clocked ram. I have a Z97 board with 4790k and DDR 1833mhz ram. Thinking about changing it out, but maybe it is better to wait for the next bigger jump in CPU architecture? Haha like i can hold out until 2019 and Icelake.

Everyone has already reported poorly results with it, and not just it but all bios. Just use stock. Through all my testing, flashing and trying out bios was just a waste of time.

If you really desperately need that power, just shunt mod and be done with it.

I disagree with you again, Slim. Palit BIOS has its uses for those it works for and for some it does. If you don't have the shunt mod and/or are on air Palit as I tested it game me decent clocks and the lowest voltages I ever tested on a BIOS and while on benching it not the best performer, for 24/7 use for gaming to avoid power limiting and/or thermal throttling it is a decent BIOS as it hardly power limits at all and can get good clocks are really low voltages.

You know though, @SlimJ87D, you come across and an elitist that everyone HAS to agree with you and you act like you're always right which at times your not. At least when you HAVE been right and I've been wrong, I owned up to it. But, you're ALWAYs right and have ALL the answers, it's really frustrating for me you act like this.

Anyhow, it's not a forum to voice issues really but I'd wish you not respond in absolutes and realise that you are not the end all to beat all when it comes to the forums. I'm sure you are an intelligent guy, no doubt, it just seems that the 'I am right and you are wrong' kinda attitude and statements is not conducive to a learning and growing community that is here to help each other, not to cause division and strife. redface.gif

Anyhow, my rant is done.

And yes, this person is having an issue with the Palit BIOS but I've not had this issue, no power limiting until 117%.

I'm thinking even though my card is a reference FE somehow because it's a first model Gigabyte edition I got on release day there might somehow be some kind of differences where some get varying results then I do while some have similar results and I've seen both sides of that coin in the forums and elsewhere.

Palit BIOS does have it uses for those it's working for though. smile.gif

12 core X299 seems promising later this year.

I'm sooooo lucky, found out from our lawyer at work I'm eligible for a large class action lawsuit here in Canada and in a year or so should get a big chunk of cash, enough to build a top of the line X299 system I'm sure with the gen of Nvidia that is available then!!! biggrin.gif

System I have now I could only afford from doing ten years of back tax refunds, and unless I get lucky in the lotto or something my X299 may be the last high-end PC I can afford for I don't know how long. redface.gif

Yeah i have no chance of upgrading to something like that. I had a cash flow in that was unexpected 1,5 month ago as well. With having 3100dollars of unclaimed income on my youtube channel, that i had forgot about. Bought a new couch, 1080ti and a XB271HU tongue.gif

I love my XB280HK 4K G-Sync screen!! Acer makes pretty decent screens I think. I kinda wish I went 144HZ 1440p G-Sync though on second thought. redface.gif

I'm also holding out for X299 to upgrade from my Z97 + 4790k setup but i'm gonna wait for benchmarks against Ryzen. I want at least an 8 core CPU. If Intel is gonna charge a lot more than AMD for similar performance then I will be going with Ryzen.

1440p 144hz G-Sync is the bees knees man! I have the PG279Q on BOTH of my workstations here and I cant imagine gaming without it. Granted it took a couple of returns to get good ones, but once you get a clean one, there really is no looking back!

Depends very much on game. Simple FPS shooters usually don't gain much from faster RAM (Battlefield SP, COD, Quake,...), 5-10%for x2 speed. Open world can show decent games usually a little more (e.g. Witcher, GTA, Fallout, Arma 3, ...), 10-20% for x2 speed. And more complex RTS games can benefit a lot (e.g. Ashes of Singularity, Total War, ...), 10%-30% for x2 speed.

When testing Total War Attila, I found that RAM speed could actually bottleneck a 980Ti on high settings (extreme setting was more GPU limited) @ 1080p. The difference there was up to 40% for x2 RAM speed.

Here is one RAM speed review: http://www.techspot.com/article/1171-ddr4-4000-mhz-performance/page3.html
