Shunt mod does nothing to the normalized TDP. The only way to lift it is through flashing BIOSs with higher TDP.

When are we going to actually hit this normalized tdp though?

I don't hit it with any game I play, superposition or firestrike.

I don't want to flash the Palit bios because it doesn't score as well as stock, kind of seeing it as counterproductive. Here's to hoping the EVGA FTW3 bios might be better for everyone.

But other than furnark, is it really going to affect us that much? Even when I did hit power limit in TimeSpy it was for half only two lines in perf cap and this was at 1.075v.

Ok so I didn't realize how hot this card ran until I played andromeda on it for the first time today. 100% fans barely keeping it at 80c @2037 1.075v with 11.8ghz mem.

I have my h115iv2 AIO for the CPU as exhaust and my load temps just went up about 10c.

I'm only running my 6700k at 1.26v at 4.5ghz and it's hitting a max of 90c.

If I put my finger on the top of the case for more than 3 seconds I'll get scalded.

Zotac Amp Extreme btw.

Edit : There's even a smell of silicon coming from exhaust lol. I hope it doesn't fry. *knocks on wood*

I've got 2050mhz with 6000mhz memory at 1.025v stable in witcher 3 with no crashing on my Strix. No downclocking. Same oc ghost recon Wildlands runs at 2063 no downclocking.. Using a custom power curve.

I haven't tried to go higher yet but I think it's pretty good as is anyway, the temps never exceed 57c @ 70% fanspeed.

I think you don't understand what the issue is with that screenshot and stuff i posted.
The question is why is my card holding 2075MHz constantly while beeing Power Limited?

And Time Spy Game 2 Test is heavy GPU Load, i would go that far to say even more heavy than Witcher 3

Screenshot again:

Edit: Ill repeat myself... the guy who has set 2050MHz on his core and reaches 40-43°C temps, is definetly loosing 1-2 bins because his temps, thats a fact

Dam, my card can do 2050 at 1.050 and 1.063V frown.gif But your is below 60C so this might be the reason why yours does not crash.. Did you play for several hours in W3 with it? It didn't downclock couple of times?

Can you post your custom voltage curve please and your Afterburner settings? I'd be grateful smile.gif

From my own experiments I got Power Limit when my clocks where too high for its bin. Not even crashing. Just too high. When I lowered clock of each bin, I stopped having Power Limit even at higher voltage bins.

Also it is not about pure GPU load, but also how app works. Suppo 4K OP is even more heavy load but I can keep higher clocks there than in Witcher 3.

Take in mind that every chip is different, those GPUs aren't prefect clones, his settings don't necessary will work on your card.
In addition yes temeperature can do alot, even 1 ° C delta can cause instability.

Again: My Card is Power Moded, the Coreclock is set to 2075MHz and i am keeping it while its showing that the card is Power Limited, thats strange. Normally the card should downclock and fluctuate in clock speeds but it isn't.
I can run 2100 @ 1,063V and never see Power Limit... i hope its clear now to you^^

Edit: even on that screenshot if you check it again, the graph is showing Power Limit with that gpu-z render test... i mean seriously *** is that ****

Is your ambient temperature super high? What's your cooling situation?

The 1080 Ti and the 6700k really aren't that hot.

I have both the Zotac Amp Extreme and 6700k as well. NZXT Kraken on my 6700k. My GPU rarely exceeds 65 C and CPU rarely exceeds 60 C.

No AC on in the house but it's generally mid 70s in the house when I'm gaming at night.

Stock air cooler on the amp extreme and H115iv2 for the CPU.

Ambient temps are around 30-32c idle and it gets to 34-35c in the room if I'm gaming full load.

Got my new ZOTAC Founders Edition today.
It has more headroom for overclokc than my former MSI Sea Hawk.

I have the latest from NVIDIA 381.89 WHQL
