The chiller is very good at controlling temps, but previous cards have usually been around the 28-30c mark so this seems to be doing a lot better.

What chiller you running?

Its a 1/2hp Hailea, but its the one they do for some other company who's name eludes me, has a scroll compressor which is supposed to be quieter, than the HC500a.

My card doesn't seem to care about the temperature at all. It runs at the same core frequency from 40C to 55C

I'm using an EK fullcover block, deltaT is always below 10C with ~200LPM flow rate under 350w load.

What's your max stable at 36c?. (Best temp I've seen on this thread yet).

Lol my card idles higher.

Yeah. My PSU is definitely overkill for this card right now. Not shunt modded. I was hoping to see a bios that would eliminate the need for it. Doesn't look like it's going to happen on pascal anytime soon anyway. I miss my 780 lightning bios that allowed 287% power limit. devil.gif I was hoping for a tweaked bios that allowed maybe 350-375 watts. It's bench stable at 2063 core and can push it to 2076 if I mess with the curve. Scores go down at 2076 though. Gaming 2050 core. Memory definitely fares better. I have tried up to +675 on the memory and still gotten positive gains in Supo. When I tried it out on air, my idle temps were definitely higher than my load temps now.

Ha ha. Can't touch this. thumb.gif Those are awesome temps. Don't get temps like that until the dead of winter here. I remember my 1080 seahawk ek x idling at under 10 C last winter. Ha ha. Ambient temps can make a huge difference without a chiller.

I finally got my chillbox all sorted. Ditched my AIO for a full block. Excuse the worm screw clamps. The pressures involved make for a mess without them.

It's a marketing ploy. No one is going to release a card with a TDP of 279, or 296. Or 178. Because it's bad marketing.
There are several 1080 Tis with >250W TDP. The Gigabyte 1080 Ti Aorus Xtreme, for example, has a default TDP of 250W or 300W (depending on the BIOS), which can be increased to 375W regardless of BIOS version. Another example is Zotac's 1080 Ti Amp Extreme, which has a base power consumption of 320W. In fact, the majority of custom-PCB 1080 Tis have a >250W TDP.
