Hmm.. but I love me some GPU sammich!

Its rated for 1300w but it can do more. Iv seen that model pushed up to 1700w or so. Interestingly the older HCP-1200 model could be pushed over 2000w.

Newegg is sneaky! Saturday night it showed available for purchase. So, purchase i did! My order has been in backorder since! How long does NE usually fill backorders? Wanted to wait for Vega b4 uprade but my 290's are showing their age @ 3440x1440 and massive driver issues always!

Someone probably snagged it before you could get it and it switched to backorder during your checkout process. I had a gigabyte one sell as I was putting it in my cart launch day.

Right fellas, I have a question for you all.

Should I wait for a non reference design card like Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AORUS Xtreme edition or snag the founders edition at a lower price now? I can get it for 799 euro right now. Will there be a lot of disadvantages with the reference design card when comapred to the non reference? I really want the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AORUS Xtreme edition , but it seems it won't come out so soon as it was only announced like a week ago.

If you don't plan on watercooling then wait for a cooler that can keep the cards below their throttling points. One user has stated there's throttles starting at 60C but others haven't had this issue it seems. That being said they run hot with the reference blower and thermals are the limiting factor so unless you need it right now wait.

Yes, that's what I was afraid of, the reference cooling solution is kind of crappy. I was hoping nvidia improved it, but it seems they haven't. There is nothing they can improve with this type of cooling solution anyway so whatever. I'll just wait until some non reference design cards are out, but I worry that it will take too long. I heard some of the new cards take almost 3 months to make...we'll see.

So I just got a message from the shop rep saying the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AORUS Xtreme edition should be added to the store for purchase this week, so Iam excited. Hope he wasn't bull****ing me smile.gif

Reference design has their use cases and I am for one thankful they produce these. Of course it does suck for 90% of users who do not need such as card redface.gif + they are hands down the best looking GPU's I have seen, though the 980Ti Kingpin does get close biggrin.gif (yes I am a sucker for that look redface.gif

It took me about a year to purchase and complete my whole PC, and I was not keeping up with the problems of these cards. This is my first build, and I am not WC my cards. One of my cards is available for Step-up program through EVGA, and I can upgrade to the Ti for $279.99. Would you guys upgrade? Or wait for the AIB's to come out and hopefully upgrade then? I am not sure when they will be out, but my card that is available has 71 days left for the program. I want to eventually upgrade to 2 of the Ti's, but I will most likely not WC them anytime soon. Just curious as to some opinions on what i should do? My current cards hit 2075 and seem to not get too hot while gaming, although I cannot see the VRM temps...... Any input would be greatly appreciated, because I have contacted EVGA and tried to ask about sending in my cards for the thermal issue, or upgrading the FTW2's. TIA

I posted about 20 or so benchmarks I have ran with the 1080, 1080Ti and Titan X (Maxewll) few pages back at stock and overclocked settings. At stock a 1080Ti handily outperformed an overclocked 1080 at similar speeds to your FTW. Now the 1080Ti Ref cooler can attain similar speeds (will fluctuate), but noise will be a factor so really you will limit your clocks on a daily basis, unless you do not mind alot of noise would possibly wait it out for third part coolers as you do not seem to have a absolute need to a blower style cooler.

I hope EVGA is as quick on their end as Gigabyte then. I want to see If I can upgrade myself, considering I am not going to WC either.

Of course, but I won't ever go for water cooling solution. They look sleek and tidy, but the cooling performance is very crappy in most cases and whats more important I heard about the thermal throttling, which is usually not a good sign. I really freaking hope the non reference design cards will be available to purchase sometime this week.

I already saw both EVGA GeForce GTX 1080Ti FTW3 GAMING ICX and the MSI GTX 1080Ti GAMING X 8G added to the store, not yet available for purchase, mind you, but they already added them to the store listing, which means they will be available to purchase later this week or the next one. The question is whether I'll wait for the gigabyte aorus version or I'll go with the evga, but considering the problems evga had with their 1080 and vrms I'll pass on that brand.
