If so they must have had some terrible cards or absolutely no cooling in their system at all. I can imagine not having at least minimal scaling in most games. When I had my GTX570's in SLI I don't think I ever found a game that didn't give me at least like 25% scaling.

Yep. I almost spit out my drink when I glanced at the numbers.

Their numbers are totally bogus and not to mention outdated.

I'll run a bunch of benches later this week when I get time.

Lol those bad old days were just a couple of months ago for me. I jumped from two 570s up to the 1080TI STRIX in March

Silicon lottery is what it clocks like.

It's a completely overbuilt card with a fairly high power limit.

I've now owned about 6x 1080 Tis and it's the second best of the bunch that I've had. The Zotac Amp Extreme is the best of the various cards I tried.

But the EVGA has way better customer service, asynchronous fans, interesting temp readouts, much better resale value, and a waterblock from EK coming soonish.

I was going to sell my FTW3 on eBay and keep the Zotac because the Zotac gets higher core and memory clocks, but what that means in a practical sense is a Superposition average framerate of 76.67 (EVGA) vs 77.33 (Zotac). Or leave everything stock and drop ~4-5 FPS.

That said, I'm going to either jump on the FTW3 Hybrid or EVGA 1080 Ti Hydro Copper when those come out. I want to quiet things down a bit.

Yes. It's crap.

Pure. Utter. Crap. ::insert crap emoji here::

Keep in mind though, I play @ 4K. GPU utilization is going to be higher than say 1440P simply because there is less being put on the CPU.

Here are some numbers which are closer to my experience:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-asus-strix-gtx-1070-1080-o8g-sli-review

The argument for SLI is simple. Get it if u want FPS/resolution which the current highest performing GPU can't deliver. But to get decent utility out of SLI, be prepared to
a) wait for games to support SLI (some will never support it)
b) a new patch might break SLI again
c) fiddle with custom SLI profiles (for games which don't have official support or to improve official profile)
d) fiddle with settings which can cause framerate issues in SLI (e.g. temporal AA solutions)
e) Use a framerate limiter to reduce SLI micro-stuttering

Another problem with SLI is that PCIE limits can reduce your performance by up to 20% in some games. I am looking forward to the new AMD chipset with 44 PCIE lanes since Intel limits those to the highest end CPUs only.
