Need advice about Ryzen build - Page 3

I've been waiting for the Ryzen 5 stuff like yourself before I pulled the trigger on anything and the 1600 was the perfect match up for what I had planned. Wound up getting it for 180 with a coupon code on jet.com, paired up with a MSI B350 Gaming Pro (matx) for 79.99 and 8GB of corsair vengeance LPX 3000mhz for 69.99. Exactly within budget for what I had planned. I rarely ever use more than 4gb as it is but I have the option of upgrading to 16GB if and when DDR4 prices start to come down. Only real notable difference I saw between the X and the B350 was its non SLI/Crossfire, I have a single PCIe 3 x16 slot. My track record with gigabyte boards has been less than stellar, and every MSI board I have ever owned for the past 10 years has been great, they have me as a customer.

I usually go a couple generations before I build a new PC as its just not cost effective to keep buying new components for every iteration of CPU that comes out. If Zen2 offers a nice size jump over the 1600 that I bought, ill go that route, but its unlikely i will invest in Zen3 if it requires a major board/mem change.

1. Buy new mbo for AM3 and go on Ryzen next year when Zen 2 becomes available.

2. Sell fx cpu and memory right now and go on Ryzen 5:

a) B350 mbo + R5 6c/12t

b) some good x370 mbo (Asus prime) + R5 4c/8t, later I would switch it for Zen2/Zen3 6c/12t. Problem is that I am not sure will current Am4 motherboards support Zen3.

I am favorizing 2b option because it seems more durable (quality of x370 mbo, longevity), I am planning to stay on Ryzen next 6+ years...

1 - 1st option is best if you can get a cheap 2nd-hand AM3 board, later on jumping on a full blown 8C/16T build once you've accumulated a bigger budget.

2 - 2A is a better choice if you'll simply end up upgrading to Zen2 or Zen3, there are a few decent B350 boards out there.

2B is only good if you don't have any other choice to take, R5 4C/8T would probably have a poor resell value if latter generations of Zen gets cheaper.
Zen3 would probably be compatible with AM4 300 series chipset, however its quite likely that AMD will release a 400 series chipset on AM4 platform which will have superior compatibility with Zen3.

I already sold my FX (cpu+mbo+ram). I will probably buy 6c/12t and B350 giga gaming 3 or MSI b350 carbon pro. Stupid x370 have many problems and flaws.

Would giga K3 be a better choice than gaming 3. I know that it has the same VRM but VRM cooling seems better...
