Well on 2.0 it does not work correctly.

When you change multi and use offset voltages the clocks do not come down as they should, you need to overclock with P states to get it to work. On all the previous bios revisions downclocking and downvolting worked like you expect it would.

I'm not sure - I know my clocks and volts drop like a rock on balanced - using Pstate0.
I never attempted balanced mode with multi overclocking;
but knowing what pstates are; I don't know why (other than the increase voltage that it reading with 2.00 - so I "lost" my 4.0, haven't tried with multi) you wouldn't use it.

I'm not saying your way or my way is better; but I don't know why you wouldn't use pstate0.

Oh i know they will come down with P state method but it really should not require you to do this. All that stuff is advanced bios features and users should not be having to dig in there to get things working properly.

On 1.63 and previous bios versions, clocks+volts came down at idle with simply a multi and offset overclock method, whatever was introduced in 2.0 broke that functionality.

fair enough on the 2.00 breaking that - I never knew.
but - honestly; i think what is happening is they unlinked pstate0 from the multi overclock.
because really, that's how we've always overclocked - you were always overclocking the top C state. (now called pstates for us)

so in that line of thinking - not using pstates0 in 2.0 is "incorrect" for our chosen method (wanting lower C/P states)
it should change and be fixed.or

Well the really funny deal is how poor balanced power plan is for ryzen (windows one). Sure i could use the AMD plan and put the CPU state to 5% but that would beg the question, why did AMD set their balanced plan to 90%?

Just way to early to say what is the "proper" method to overclock right now imo. I have been around PC's for 20 years and never have i heard the term P state before ryzen, i know for a fact 2.0 is a broken bios as there is no chance amd/asrock etc would expect people to dig deep into a sub menu to get things to function as you would expect.

20 years? welcome youngin!
pstates come in to being with amd's videocards - I forget which one.
but they are Power states - aka intel speed steps - up until amd started using them in the "pstate" meathod; you were only ever overclocking a top state, with pstates you can tweak voltages per power state.
so you have a golden chip? you could downvolt and test each state until your top state where you would overvolt to get your top clocks.
save a TON of power on a GPU that way.

They heard us guys, new bios 2.10 out now biggrin.gif

Edit

Still no stable 3200MHz on memory though, I'm starting to consider swapping to another motherboard as I know there are many that can do 3200MHz with my ram, so sad Asrock can't deliver this to the Killer SLI mad.gif

Agesa 1.0.0.3 yet...

My ram is still stuck at 2400 lol. Guess the waiting game continues.

the funny thing guys, is i have the "worst" possible ram and I can (according to this forum) get 3200 if i really relax the timing/**** with voltages (Corsair LPX) yet people who bought into the samsung B-die right away - still can't get 2933.
lets actually let that sink in for a bit.
we are all prone to rash choices - but BIOS's that have 1.0.0.4a seem to have better clocking on other boards. and who actually gets 3200 XMP? (without ******* with anything) it's a very very small minority still.

I'd get a Taichi tomorrow if i could sell this killer for 75% (i don't let hardware rot in my house) but, not because i get only a "little" overclock

It is a bit frustrating i wont lie, but i know this **** will get fixed eventually. Im happy with the board overall, memory problems are widespread its not just the killer.

Kinda surprised cool n quiet still does not work with offset and multi, figured they woulda fixed that.

have to admit, I was a little giddy when I saw 2.10 - then came here--- all my hopes and dreams...
