Oh yes, did I need to remind you they did that 2 years ago?

I don't need to explain that. The extensive HBM which is still expensive new according to you is going good $350.

By your logic it should still be $650/$550 seeing as HBM is so expensive

Oh gosh you refuse to accept the fact that HBM is not as cheap as you think it is. Yes they sell it at 350 NOW, that was a 2 years old card! And if you didnt know how big a 2 years gap is, Nvidia is already 60% faster in their latest offering compared to 2 years ago.

So you expect them to continue selling their old Fury X at 650 while the 1080 which is 50% faster is retailing at $500? If you are a company financial consultant I think you will cause the company to go bust by your logic

Have you even hear this phrase: Clearing stock inventory?

You refuse to accept that HBM is not as expensive as you think. Which is what I'm trying to say. Nvidia bring faster does not make HBM cheaper. That shouldn't affect price. They clearly had high margins and could have sold the cards cheaper.

Lol why not we wait and see how Vega turn out? I am tired of explaining simple logic where your logic doesn't even make any sense.

That is what I meant, the new card will be out at $550-650 with new HBM. That is what I agree on for Vega.

Yeah lets wait and see... I know technology progression wont fail me... This time.

By your logic cards with ddr5 should cost $1000 by now seeing as it cost more than gddr3. Prices just keep going up as new tech comes out.

Let me give you a senario where you are running a small retail business. you have tons of goods which are costly to make, but you cannot move them becz no customer wants them. After a long period of time your inventory is full, what do you do?

1) You sell them at a huge loss but still better than nothing
2) Let them collect dust and take up all your inventory slot till you cannot have any new product to be stored inside.

I bet you will pick 2 and just wait for bankrupt. Because you simply lack common sense.

Anyway you are not that far off, A G5X product is now selling at $1200. You are almost there to shoot your foot again.

Let me remind you again, The HBM that Vega uses is a 2nd generation HBM, not the first gen HBM that Fury X uses. That is exactly the same senario you made in your GDDR5 vs GDDR3 argument. I also need to point out the prices doesnt need to go up, so your $1000 point is invalid. I just meant that it will simply stay where it is. $550 - 650 like how Fury X was.

I'm not trying to hype anything.
If I remember correctly those 11 optimisations were specifically for the GPU and they were implemented at a silicon level.
So it's more like a custom Polaris which is what Vega is at the end of the day.

The problem with HBM is not the cost of the memory itself but the lost GPUs (and memory) due to bad interposers. Mounting on an interposer is risky and they still haven't gotten the failure rate as low as they were hoping. This is the reason for those 12GB GP100 Tesla's too, salvaging GPUs where one stack failed.
