Cas3 DDR2 800? - Page 2

its dual coded for settings @ pc6400 and pc8000. Read the link. Those are almost as expensive as the Dom's... Maybe it has something to do with the NB latencies at that high of a speed...CAS3 might make the NB 'fart'...i dunno

What speeds are you trying to reach?
If $$$.$$ is your concern, then why not just buy some good ddr2 667..? Most G.Skill and TeamX 667's can easily reach 900, even 1000mhz.

I don't think that matters ...the pic he posted has only PC-6400 on it...

Believe me, the XMS2 CAS 3 were as expensive as well. http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair...048-6400C3.pdf

But they've been replaced by the Dominator. They were at egg last week for $443. And that's their better binned D9s, you get what you pay for.

I am using this C3 ram too, my timing is 3-3-3-3 1T but I need to change my board really soon cause the board stopping me to OC anything higher than 800MHz....

I think the Dominator C3 actually got the same ICs. This C3 ram was realeased about a year ago. But for sure no one can buy them from retail anymore...

And u don't want to know how much I paid for this...

Is it really worth that much more to get cas 3 rather then cas 4?I am just curious.Help a noob out.lol
Anyways would there be enough performance boost for the price.

I've just ordered mine so can't give you any real proof but the CAS3 i'm getting can do 1000mhz @ 4-4-4-4 so I guess one of the benefits is tighter timings at higher speeds

My set of Crucial can do that too if I'm correct.

Performance I think will be very similar but for sure this ram can archieve real tight timing. In other word, you can start clocking from 3 instead of 4 which will be a bit faster & more timing combo you can try out. But I know not all people care about the timing for the ram when running Intel.
