MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon experience - Page 15

In the case of the specific issue I'm having, it's the bios since I can do 2667CL14 1T just fine, rock solid stable on 1.2. Literally stable through 10 hours of P95 blend test with SoC voltage (CPU NB on MSI boards) at minimum. With 1.3 or 1.4 bios I can't go above 2133Mhz 2T at any reasonable dram voltage.
Just tried 1.4 bios and am able to now run at 2933 stable.

I'm using the F4-3000C15-8GTZB at 16-16-16-35-1T @ 1.36 using profile 2.

Also have the 1700X running at 3.9 @ 1.392V on water.

This was the only bios I could use the profile 2 on and even get it to boot.

Maybe your CPU. Silicon lotto. When I had my 1700 could never go past 2933mhz ram and needed stupidly high volts for 3.8 ghz. Got my 1800x and now 3200 ram and 4.1 ghost with same ram is easy.

So far, I am running stable at 2933 with 16-17-17-36 on my G.Skill. So far, no issues, but I haven't done too much testing. I do have some Team Dark Pro CL14 B-Die coming in this week that should run at 3200 stable, but we'll see.

I was going to sell the current G.Skill I am using, but I think I will keep it around. It's good to have some spare ram around, especially if I go and do another build (HTPC, etc.)

So, my system was running fine on the 1.2 bios. 1700X, 16gb of the G.Skill TridentZ F4-3200C16D-16GTZR. Updated to 1.4, and now my system won't post. The bios update went fine, it got to 100% and restarted, but upon restarting, both the CPU and RAM led's are on. Tried resetting the bios by shorting the jumper, as well as leaving the battery out overnight, still nothing. Any ideas?

Yeah... that doesn't make me want to go to Ryzen... I don't know what could help but I hope you didn't brick your motherboard. Maybe try to start your pc with only one stick of ram.

sorry to hear that maybe start a ticket with MSI see if theres anything they can do also try the one stick of ram as already suggested, the whole jumper thing on this board is really stupid, its stopping me from OCing at the minute as its just too much faff as its my work PC. Out of curiosity is it covered under warranty if a bios update goes south? hope you fix it.

Thanks, I hope I fix it too. I made a similar post on the MSI support forums, and got a few suggestions, so I do have a few things to try later tonight.

Despite nothing mentioning it in the manual, MSI does have a BIOS flashback process, so I can try that. As well, going to try reseating CPU and RAM.

Honestly, I haven't been very happy with the MSI board. I started out on the Asus Crosshair VI Hero, but gave that to a friend (a whole other story), and got the Gaming Pro Carbon instead. I ordered a Gigabyte Gaming K7 this morning, so regardless of what happens with the MSI I'll be swapping to that.
