But did they really have to call it X399? Lol is AMD getting a little cocky?

They are trolling Intel. Intel has b250 board. AMD has B350.

Awesome! The only thing holding me back from Ryzen was lack of PCIE lanes and a little bit of time to work out the kinks.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Intel and their $2,000 dollar CPU can go sit and spin.

Also if I recall Ryzen is made up of 4 core sections, so that would seem to imply that we will see a 12/24 core variant as well.

I mean...

  • X399
  • X370
  • X300
  • B350
  • A320
  • A300

I'm sure they didn;t do it to mess with X299, not at aaaalll. whistle.gif

Unless X299 is about to come with 16-core CPUs though, X399 is going to dump on it hard, so it's deserved.

This to the nth. Glad I held off on launch day, and if this platform does come to fruition with ability to modulate CCXes...... I mean really........ Sign me up captain.

People in here thinking they are going to push 16 cores to 4.0 Ghz are off their rocker

Why not?

Sounds doable.

It's just twice the power draw of the 8 core (which would be ~200W*2 at most) over a surface twice as large. What's the problem? The thermal density isn't high and we have plenty of practical solutions with much more capacity.
