"So basically you are still looking at the 'older' Polaris GPU architecture right, but they're using a new (updated) generation fabrication node process named 14LPP. The previous node was 14LPE (Low Power Early). The new one is a 14LPP (Low Power Plus) node, an enhanced version with higher performance and lower power."
They really need to toss the 460 down to a 450(550 rebrand name) and bring something decent out as the 560. The gap between the 460 and 470 is no joke and where a huge chunk of sales are going to be. Dunno if they can do that at 75w though.
Yes, Polaris uses LPP. It would be big news if 5xx was utilizing 14nm LPU (Low Power Ultra), but I don't believe fabs have even begun to ramp up the process yet; looks to be in 2H of this year.

Because they don't want anymore memes about their graphics cards being hotter than rocket engines like they had with Hawaii. So they will use a low power node (perhaps also cheaper) it is not as if AMD would invest in a decent cooler anyways. My 290 at least looks cool and I think it has gotten cooler and quieter with newer drivers but I'm not sure if performance declined. Don't really have much time to play games nowadays and the ones I do get around to playing are generally not very intensive. Noticed some stuttering in the new Resident Evil but that could've been just the game being buggy. (RE had this massive blur that gave me a headache even more than being chased)
Still for you guys I hope 14nm cards have a lot more to offer thus far it has been a huge let down from AMD and not really as many cards as I would like to see from Nvidia.
I think it is more of reviews using the newer SKU with newer drivers (i..e better drivers) resulting in better reviews of what is essentially the same thing.
People will buy the newer version based on better reviews even if it is the same thing.
If they see improved they are going to show it by refreshing the card. Nvidia is doing it with 11Gbps G5X and 9Gbps G5. If this change was applied to current card it would create a lot of confusion and never get to see the light from reviews.

Granted these were not common occurrences, but 480's can be found on the reg for ~$160 AR. 470's have been on Jet for sub $115 AR many times over the past few months.

Pretty crazy deals. RX480 is very good 1440p card. Dam PC gaming is so cheap these days.
