15" laptop Hp spectre x360 vs Dell XPS 15?

I am looking for a 15" laptop. I have a good desktop but I need something portable for school and work. I don't care about convertible laptop. I just want something that last around 6-8 hrs, metallic housing and good display & keyboard.

This one seem nice:

Downside is the lack of dedicated gpu. I like to play some little game on laptop and wouldn't mind more power.

The spectre x360:

It has a 940M... not latest gen so I might have to wait longer if I go the dedicated gpu route.

These two laptops seem to have ~8hrs battery life so that's good. I don't know if now is a good timing to buy. I know that there are some deal around april so that's coming soon. AMD is supposed to release new APU with Zen & Vega architecture "2H 2017". Don't know when that is supposed to happen but if that's around back2school should I wait until that time to buy a laptop? I can endure my current one a bit longer...

TL;DR: Looking for laptop suggestion. Must be 15", metal, 6-8hrs battery + good display/keyboard. Is it a good idea to buy in april or better wait for back2school? Never bought any new laptop. Mine were always used.

Dell xps 15 ftw.

it would come with a real quad core processor and a gtx 1050. The only catch is that the xps comes with two battery options. One is a really crappy 56 watt hours and the other is 97 watt hours. Obviously you would want the 97 watt hours.

You might wanna keep an eye out for 2015 15 inch macbook pros.

Now I know that probably won't interest you, but here me out. You can shop around and find them for 1600-1700 bucks which is about the same price as the correct model for the xps 15.

It has a massive 90 watt hour+ battery.

It uses a 16x10 screen which is super nice for productivity. And while it doesn't have a dedicated gpu, it does have the iris pro graphics which would allow you to play a few games here and there. I was able to play tf2 on it with reasonable settings and fps.

Its also the best built and most sturdy portable laptop you can buy, so that is also a really big factor.

The FHD model doesn't seem to come with the 97WH battery option sadly. Only the 4K model has it and the battery life isn't stellar (plus it's worth 2200$CAD).

Thanks for the suggestion but I am not interested in Mac.

XPS 15. It's the best PC laptop I've ever owned (I own a Precision m5510, same thing, just has a Xeon) in terms of build quality. It's even better than a MacBook Pro in my opinion. The touchpad is also the only PC laptop touchpad I've used that's as good as Apple's. You can't go wrong.
