No video output from GPU

Hello fellow OCNers! Its been long (too long, actually) but I have to make an earlier return than my planned summer vacation return because of this little problem. Feels good to be back regardless!

I think I'm having a problem with my GPU. Everything was fine until 2 days ago when I turned on my PC in the morning and the monitor displayed a ''no signal'' message.

-The PC was posting as I could hear the post beep
-The GPU was on because its fan was spinning

I thought it was a case of dust getting in the adapter, as I use a passive DVI to VGA converter for my 768p VGA-port only monitor to take the feed from my R7 260X. Or maybe the converter gave out. Either way, after dusting off the GPU and the monitor ports and plugs without success, I connected the VGA cable from my monitor directly to my motherboard's VGA port, and the display worked like normal and the PC works with no other problems (I got an improper start message from windows but restart seemed to fix that). I thought up until today that it was the converter so I went and got a new one and the same issue persists.

-So I cannot get any output from my GPU at all, but I can get it from my motherboard, so my cheapo screen doesn't seem to be at fault here. Currently, I'm typing this from my PC with display connected to the mobo, with max 1024X768 resolution
-The GPU seems to be working, as its fan is spinning and its power connector isn't loose

As I only have this screen to check with, I wasn't able to check the other ports. So what do you guys think is the next step to take? I have exams coming up and would rather I fix this as early as possible as having my PC in questionable working condition is stressful since I plan to do a lot of gaming this summer.

Thanks for your help, as always!

Maybe its the dvi port on the gpu. You may need to try the hdmi or displayport. I would imagine both have converters to vga.

Damn, I should've asked for those when I went to the hardware shop today. Will have to ask for those the next time I go by.
But it seems to be a GPU issue right? Everything else seems to be working fine.

Anyone else got any ideas? I'll have to call in someone from the PC repair store to check it soon. Anything else I can try before that?

Nope haha, both my brothers use Pentium i-GPUs and have similar monitors and none of my neighbors / friends have remotely recent hardware.

So guys, an update. After 2 weeks or so of using 1024X768, I came home this afternoon and found the motherboard didn't have any output either. So I connected my screen to the GPU again, thinking it would fail, and it worked! Then I reinstalled AMD display drivers which had disappeared and rebooted, only to see my original problem of no output from the GPU. Then I ate lunch and came back to find it starting normally again. So what now? It seems the GPU isn't at fault here. I'll run some metro later on to test if its working fine, but it does have output. So what else can I test that may be causing this issue?

So the final bump.
The issue seems to be either motherboard or monitor related, since the GPU seems to offer output sometimes but sometimes I have to get video output from the mobo, and in addition to only one of those two working while the other doesn't, I find that sometimes my motherboard gives a blank output with full black screen (but no connection error messages). So has anyone encountered this problem before? Maybe the mobo is having problems with video output? Any ideas?
