Is it possible it would've died even if you hadn't overclocked it?

So the deterioration is due entirely to the increase in voltage -- regardless of cooling?

Well, seeing this from a Nvidia tech guy simply means that Nvidias are working on high, and potentially dangerous voltages, simply to archieve higher frequencies and shortening life of the cards they make.

That is not what he meant.
What he said was that the cards are running at a certain optimal voltage to give the performance they do for a certain life expectancy that they have, that increasing the voltages to gain more performance, will shorten their life.
They did not increased voltages to intentionally shorten the life of the card. They held the voltage back in order to prevent that exact situation.

What i see as an issue is statement about "certain optimal voltages".

If there is need to limit Voltage headroom, it means that there isnt that much headroom to increase as it might appear.

He didnt said that, and I do not claim he said that. Its just my opinion that Nvidia representative indirectly admitted that "certain voltages" are already bit high, as there is "certain" product life expectancy, which might get below accepted standards.

So the card was made in dangerous territory. That's what it sound like to me. So close to the upper threshold overclockers should beware. Whateves though.

So | just f|n|shed talk|ng w|th a certain overclocker and this is a non-issue as long as temps are kept in check. It, upping voltage, will also be a non issue for LN2 cards. I doubt this will change the world for anyone in water or air, but it's nice to know.
