Can a Corsair AIO single radiator run for 18 hours a day for a couple years?

Hi guys!

I am planning to switch from my very old CPU heat sink + fan setup to one of the Corsair AIO single radiator. I bought my heat sink back in 2009. I wanted to know if anyone has heard any common issues with the Corsair AIO when it comes to running your PC for long periods of time. Also, it would be important to know if people have killed their CPU because it somehow failed on them.

My reasons for switching below:
1) I hate having to pull out that heat sink just to dust it out. I think it would be easier to detach and dust off a radiator while the CPU block is still mounted.
2) I had to replace the fan on my Cooler Master V8 3 different times! On the 3rd time, I discovered the fan died because the PC wouldn't boot. I don't understand why Cooler Master sickle fans keep literally dying right after the 1yr warranty. I probably have had to replace like 6 in total (cpu and case fans).

Are you asking if you can run something like an h60, h80, h100, etc for 18 hours a day? Or did you take one of these kits and remove the radiator for a custom loop?

No custom loop. I am considering to replace my old cpu cooler setup. And yes those are the models for the single radiators by Corsair. Except I think the h100 is double size right?

Hmm... I don't see why not.

I'll be honest, I don't have much experience with custom loops, but from what I have seen with the AIO units, the pump usually is the point of failure. Radiator shouldn't fail unless it gets punctured.

Thanks for the fast response. That might explain why there are so many refurbished products on newegg lol. What's weird is that people on newegg reviews are reporting the H55 to be worse than the H50.

It has a maintenance-free pump, which means is guaranteed to fail at some point in the next 10 years. Consider 5 years the 50% point.

Thanks. I didn't even think of that. I'm so glad I didn't buy one yet.

You're welcome! smile.gif

I like refurbished products actually because they (usually) go through more testing that a new unit would to make sure its 100% working.

And correct, some of the really low end water coolers are not worth the price (h55) compared to an air cooler at the same price. Same holds true for h60.

The h90 is pretty sick though. I have that on my 12 core, 24 thread Xeon. I rarely see temps above 50 C when using handbrake with only one fan on the radiator. biggrin.gif

Also, thanks for the rep!

My case had 4 separate Corsair AIO coolers in it for over 3 years. I had H90's installed on each of my 3 R9 290X's, and an H110 installed on my CPU.

... yeah, I'm lazy.

Anyway, they all worked great. No problems, and my machine almost never gets turned off so they were all running hassle free pretty much 24/7 the whole time. I'm in the middle of pulling my system apart now to install a custom loop after finally upgrading my video cards, but I don't have any complaints about the AIO coolers. I'm only changing them out becasue my 1080ti is as fast as the three 290x's, and I figured it deserved a proper waterblock on it.

My case looks a little weird now that it has so much space in it though.

Oh, and I should mention that each of the H90's was bought as a refurb unit.

Ive got dozens of Corsair AIOs in service 15 hours a day in vans and many more in office settings that run 24/7. This is going on 5 years for most of the van setups. I have not had a failure that didnt come out of the box with issues. There has been a couple of those. That said,, you do have to realize that AIOs do have a finite life span. Although I have had no failures yet, it will happen, as sure as the fans on your air cooler will die eventually. If you do opt for a water cooler of some type, set the air to intake through the radiator and use a magnetic dust screen on the outside. Makes keeping dust out of the radiator and case easy. Just pull off the magnetic dust screen, clean it with air and put it back on.
