[Bethesda] Quake Champions Closed Beta - Page 5

Quake II was my all time favorite and I used a cool predator skin. It went down hill after people started using rat bots.

Pretty much, I think most of us do, lol. I can't imagine they haven't heard that many times by now, they would be unwise to ignore it. Hopefully there will be some sort of mod support. I mean if no one else does first i'm making an excessive for it without all the classes and stuff if at all possible. I did it with UT2k3 and 2k4 right when they were released, i played 2k3 like for a few nights and 2k4 not even one night before i started porting my 2k3 weapons into 2k4. So i've never actually played UT2k4 stock save for testing.

Anyway if people are getting beta invites and don't even care i better get one because i been looking forward to this game and all i'm waiting for at the moment. Whatever it is stock doesn't mean anything really unless it's locked down and no way to mod it.

Look's good but the guy's voice and dialog made me cringe.

I didn't play 2k3 much, but I probably spent at least two solid years playing 2k4. I'd love just a graphical remake with the same gameplay... My Q1 directory was like 1 gig by the time I gave up. lol

As a long time Quake player, i'd like to share my 2ct.

I'm currently playing Quake Live, which is on steam. It's almost a copy of Quake3 but it has more elements to it, such as Rocket Arena 3 (Clan Arena). I played Quake Champions yesterday. Did a few matches and it was quite fun. It has the quake feel, definitely but it feels a bit sluggy and crowded. By sluggy i mean, weapons feel like they have a little delay on them, the animations make it seem that way.
And by crowded i mean that it's really chaotic. There's a lot going on in the area that surrounds u. Animations, particles, explosions. All of that makes it really hard to pinpoint your target. The console is disabled right now, so colored team/enemies isn't a thing yet. And you can't adjust FOV and such.

All in all, it's a very fun game, different characters with abilities that give it a nice little twist (altho it may be possible that one particular champion(character) is OP) Let's hope it gets more customizable in the near future and that it can compete with games like Overwatch and live up to the oldskool quake games. Since they really set a high standard for what an FPS game should be imo.

Lets hope that FOV and graphics options stay unlocked. After 13s of trailer they switched to the new narrow crap FOV.
Waited a couple days because busy and then the registration link wouldn't redirect anymore. Damn it.

The voice talking hopefully is only trailer stuff.

Nah they talk during the match as well. I hope there are modes where champion abilities can be disabled. I personal have been using Nyx and she has a free get our of jail free card if you make a bad engage or just end up in a bad decision. Pop her invisibility and your our of there. Or just preposition to set your self up for a guaranteed rail...it is pretty broken lol. And he ability to hall jump is just silly haha.

Yeah, like i said, some abilities will be overpowered and thus overused. The abilities add a fun element but it's also really not what quake is about.
I wouldn't use the ability to hit a rail tho, that would be a waste imo thumb.gif
