Projects of the Month for April 2017 - Page 7

How do I exclude CPU on one machine? My Fury X is being badly bottlenecked by the Pentium CPU it's running with. Is there a line to add to the app_config to elinate CPU tasks?

You should be able to exclude cpu tasks via the project website (whichever project you are running).

For instance, here are the Einstein preferences:

Most of the projects are similar.

Thanks. I already knew this. I was hoping there was a way to exclude CPU tasks in the app_config.

If you were looking to exclude CPU tasks from a specific machine, you could use a different preference set that had GPU tasks only.

I figured it out. Set GPU usage to .25 and CPU to .5. Now running four tasks with no issues. So far anyway....thumb.gif

Could just set % CPUs to 50% so it would work across all projects.

This is my app_config for E@H. The cpu_usage only limits how many CPUs to allocate ONLY for GPU crunching. If I had it set to "1" then 2 CPU threads could NOT crunch regular CPU work. They are held back for GPUs. I have a 1070 and 970 in that system so 4x GPU tasks are running and I still have full control of all 8 CPU threads since the CPU sum is less than 1. I actually run 8 threads even though E@H hogs 4 by pushing all 8 CPU tasks to 4 threads with process lasso in windows.
Code:
<app_config>
  <app>
    <name>hsgamma_FGRPB1G</name>
     <gpu_versions>
      <gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
      <cpu_usage>0.1</cpu_usage>
     </gpu_versions>
  </app>
</app_config>

Also up, up and away. Look at that slope for CSG. Up 4 spots this month. I should get 2mil overall and 1mil WIldlife badge tomorrow or the next.

I used to run some CSG on my DL-580's. As I recall I never could get any GPU tasks with my 2P, dual 980's. Have they ever optimized for GPU's? Guess I could look...tongue.gif

NOPE! biggrin.gif

They definitely increased the points per task. I'm putting out more in a single day than I had total before this month started.

The admin is looking at making a GPU app since Wildlife is analyzing images, and thats a good app for GPUs.

They have been getting longer too so points are increasing.
