Try bumping your CPU voltage up then and maybe raising LLC as well if the v oltage bump doesn't work.

Could be during a quiet/idle part of the game Vdroop goes too low and causes the instant power off.
The APU has different voltage options compared to normal CPU - it has GPU clocks and voltage as well. He needs to bump those, no the CPU ones.

Well its a locked cpu some I'm limited in what i can do. I bumped up the cpu voltage by 0.126 and it seems to have fixed it so far. I've been playing gta 5 all afternoon and not a single lock up.

Sounds good!
Most likely what happened is your chip must not be a well binned chip so overtime the small incremental degradtion of the transistors was enough to just become unstable at stock frequency/voltage.

For example one of my gpus in my sli setup runs at 1.25v while the other uses 1.19v for the exact same overclock

So I was playing GTA 5 yesterday and it froze on me... WHYYYYY

It does feel like the voltage bump did make it a little bit more stable.

Then increase it to a +0.25

If the APU is in warranty, return it.

He raised the cpu voltage and not the igpu voltage. On a Gigabyte board it would be Northbridge and APU voltages.

To be honest I have no idea what voltages to raise. I'm new to this type of stuff. I've always had a laptop before.

Go into your bios. Look for these three things. Bump the values up a couple notches.

APU PLL

APU VDD

NB Core
