Good choice.

Don't be afraid of the upper resistance models if you have a decent amp it'll sound even better.

If you are happy, that is all that matters. Try going to a high end audio store and trying out some headphones. I don't live in a crazy city (I live in Toronto), and there are stores here that have rows of high end headphones to try. It is pretty unreasonable to buy a product that is that price and not be able to try it, especially when it is such a subjective type of product.
As I've ventured down the high end audio rabbit hole, I found myself doing the same. But I feel like a lot of people within the hobby fail to simply enjoy where theyre at. To each their own though. Some find the thrill in the hunt itself, rather than the prey. I just have to keep myself in check though so I dont get too picky or accustom to one kind of sound. I just wish I could try before I buy. There arent too many shops in this area where I can do that. Only meticulous research and a reliance on return policies. Havent found a pair yet that I dont like though

I use mine when I walk right out of my phone. For prog and power metal, they do well in my opinion. I find the bass makes for a slightly more immersive experience in games. You may lose some precision, but the experience is much more fun in my opinion. I hope you enjoy them. There shouldn't be any issues for what you want them for.

They definitely don't compare to the HD650's though. The HD650's are 300ohm headphones so definitely need a decent amp to power.

I have just the opposite feeling, hd650 is far too tight a clamping force for many hours of use in one sitting. but to each their own. enjoy

I felt that way about my HD600 when I first got them. Now, they just feel second nature. It was one complaint though about upgrading to the HD700. I heard how comfortable those were and I expected it to feel better than the HD600. Nope. Theyre comfortable, but the 600 felt more so than the 700. I guess its personal taste and what you get accustomed to.
