Console games are no where near as demanding as maxed out PC games though. With console optimization I could definitely see 4K being doable on Scorpio. Maybe not 60 FPS but at least 30...

The reason I buy consoles; Exclusives. Scorpio won't get any, so I won't be buying one. Simple as that.

I couldn't care less about specs, as long as graphics are decent and gameplay is great.
Most of my best gaming moments have been on console, even tho my PC have always been much better/faster.

I got PS4 Pro, Switch, and a PC. All I need. I can play all Xbox "exclusives" on my PC, if there will be any worth playing that is. So far it's been pretty disappointing.
If Microsoft think they can sell these machines on hype/specs alone they need to rethink.

If Microsoft think they can sell these machines on hype/specs alone they need to rethink.

Sony's exclusives are a small part of the equation, from 2013-2015 Sony had horrible exclusives, nothing more than re-hashed last gen games, just like Microsoft.
And yet the PS4 was twice as popular as Xbox at the same time.

Exclusives are one reason "some" people pick one console over another, but the success of the PS4 is mostly due to it's price to performance ratio, and Microsft's marketing mistakes at launch.

For the next three years Scorpio will control the third party conversation, it won't be enough to make up the ground lost in the first half of this generation but I have full confidence that Sony's lead will only shrink from here on.

Sony also had the high percentage of people who bought consoles because it was "free" online play that moved directly to the Ps4. Most people had established friends and networks on the Ps3, and that always carries over. It is one of the reason I prefer Xbox, because that is where all my friends play console games. I have both for exclusive reasons alone, but PSN is a joke, and is down more than I would ever like it to be. The amount of kids who could enjoy online experience without having to justify it to their parents for $50/year. Also the Asian market is enormous for Sony, and they have a lot of Jrpg's. There are many reasons Sony has the lead, but those 2 factors help quite a bit.

Can't believe people still do not get it. PS4 had such a bad lineup and still broke records. I also think most of console gamers play the big AAA games that come in both consoles. PS4 was just better for those. Another thing was a lot of people missed on PS3 exclusives so they got. PS4 this time around. I think excluding do not really sell consoles alone.

Everybody knew Sony had great exclusives coming and everybody also knew that Xbox One only offered inferior versions of every single game on the system. Microsoft made nothing but mistakes and it's really surprising that they sold as much as they have. Scorpio isn't going to change anything. Having a slightly better version of the rare multiplats that don't get to PC is going to sell to very few people that don't already have an Xbox One.
