NPD/US probably.

Global doubt it.

Really depends on Sony (aggressive bundling and/or prie cuts) and market's reaction.

PS4 has such a large user base that not many are left to jump to PRO and those that have PS4 are even less likely.

At a year late and overpriced? I'd bet against that.

The jump from PS4 to PS4 Pro could not be compared to what Scorpio would bring. Even if it is mid-gen update it would be way higher jump in the hardware.

It's roughly the same as the jump from Xbox One to PS4. Not very significant at all.

Even now, the only reason the exclusive gulf is so wide is not because Sony has set themselves apart in some extraordinary manner, but because MSFT has done literally nothing on that front, aside from putting out stale sequels to tired franchises.

The reason why the XB1 was battered in terms of sales for the first couple of years was because MSFT conducted one of the worst marketing campaigns I have ever seen for a product, and basically laid out the red carpet for Sony to walk all over them. Sony execs were pretty much pinching themselves to see if they weren't dreaming during that time. Sony's marketing for the PS4 consisted of telling people, "It's about the games, dummy", and that's all they needed due to MSFT's incompetence.

Scorpio is MSFT rectifying their biggest mistake - 4 years after the fact. Give them another 4 years to output some halfway decent exclusives, and actually give their devs some resources to work with.

Nail on the head. The XB1's launch and the run up to it was comically bad and they managed to piss off pretty much the entire console gaming crowd. I remember people were so mad at MS even before the console launched.

Agree for sure, I even made the jump from PS4 to Pro..... honestly not much of a difference. HDR is the only reason I even thought about it. Most people who can't afford a newer tv, have no reason to "jump". Same could be said with Xbox though, so we shall see if they can bring some games. I am Xbox hand down, I will say that to anyone. PSN is pure trash, and I mean trash. Got to love sitting back on the couch playing on a 70" Tv with friends, but now that I've moved over to this "masterrace" I've been shown a new light. Loving it so far. I will still buy Scorpio

Are you familiar with the console clientele? They couldn't care less about the hardware, or even the graphics. They won't upgrade to the Scorpio in droves because it's better hardware or capable of looking better. They couldn't tell you the difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS if you showed them a 2 hour movie on it. If there isn't a new Halo or Cowadoody for it, it doesn't matter. They buy a box, put a disc in it, and play. That's it.
Obviously, I'm generalizing a bit. But this is what console makers count on. It's also why PC is so far behind in development effort from them. Let's face it: the average console gamer isn't working on their dissertation.

the only reason I got a PS4 slim is Exclusive titles
when I'm on the couch I couldn't care less about FPS
If I wan't a smooth experience I just jump on my PC
If I want good games that can't be played anywhere else, I got my PS4
post #330 of 543
Is there any reason for new consoles to exist? I mean apart from the fact people will waste their money on it.

Why do we still have to ruin the gaming industry with consoles? Is not correct to point out that consoles are just particularly bad PCs that run exclusive titles? They made sense a while back when all consoles games were exclusives but now? I don't get it at all, it's 2017...

I hope someone can explain to me because I have no frikkin idea.
