An iPad will not do for my heavy browsing and multitasking.

So everyone's situation is different. I do not see how desktops are a dying breed.

While I hardly game on my PC anymore it is used for much more important and productive stuff.

Yeah, while you can do some work on tablets you'll eventually run into some stupid limitation like printing, website incompatibility, etc.

People, we all know PC offers better visual than a console (if you have the hardware)

But the PS4 PRO plus a 1440p game, plus 4k tv with HDR looks FANTASTIC, really, even the most hardcore PC gamer could be impressed by Horizon or Uncharted 4 on a 4K HDR

The 4K HDR fever is real

I am not to fussy about resolution. A game can look great at 720p also. I am more fussy about fps and smoothness.

OP's Youtube link is broken. Here is the interview with nVidia's Tom Petersen regarding overvolting GPUs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79-s8byUkxk&feature=youtu.be&t=15m35s

EDIT: Oops, wrong thread.

Products like the Surface book/pro 4 fix that issue.

For anyone that doesn't require a full powered CPU/GPU, the power that a device like the Zen book/Surface is simply more than enough and the bottleneck is in the applications they run not the hardware itself.

Laptops are the new desktops and desktops are a niche market nowadays, mainly aimed at enterprise. That is why there aren't that many GPU/CPU makers. The market is shrinking and there are only 4-6 CPU/GPU makers in the market if you include the likes of MediaTek and Qualcomm, adding anymore would just make the margins too slim.

Edit:

You can print through wifi on most new printers nowadays, and website incompatibility is only due to Apple not support flash and/or no mobile optimization. There aren't many things that a normal user that doesn't play any games in a desktop PC. They lose mobility, add heat/noise and see no real gains. A laptop with a SSD/decent mid-high level processor/integrated GPU is what most people need.

True but I use 3 screens. Still a limitation for me.

I do have a Surface though.

If you are on overclock.net, you are probably not in the market to not have a desktop PC.
Try Tom's Hardware or CNET forums

bros i own a ps4 pro and it actually is pretty impressive in the 10 or so games that make use of it, hopefully they continue thier support cuz its getting better and better. FF15 looks sick at 4k but its still not a perfectly smooth 30fps yet. or i can run at 1080p regular settings but 60fps smooth.

and if the scorpio will be better than it then i may not even care for pc gaming anymore. only game i still play on pc is cs go everything else is more fun on console because there's way more players.

Agreed I'm done with PC. I still like sitting at a desk on a comfortable office chair over a couch though. I just picked up a custom stand for my 40" Sammy. Looks like a huge computer monitor haha. Looking forward to adding the Scorpio along side my Pro.
