[VC] NVIDIA launches TITAN Xp with 3840 CUDA cores (faster G5X) - Page 60

I haven't even bothered to update my sig in my rig even though the rig is sort of ridiculous. Not everything crazy is epeen and epeen isn't always bad.

That is why I brought up my custom loop. It's excessive, but I don't dream about what my next build would involve at work because I want the largest raging epeen boner on the internet.

And if I share something it's insulting to just say it's e-peen... Sometimes I am genuinely excited about whatever project I'm working on, and most of the time other people don't care. But I care. I build roadmaps and I name my computers and I have a description for why I picked each name and the background. It's exciting and honestly it gives me a reason to live and get up in the morning.

Not everything is just epeen.

I don't think I can explain any more completely than I have.

Look, if you buy a Titan Xp but don't actually have any games installed, then that's pure epeen. A custom loop is not epeen and not something I'd ever consider epeen, simply because it's something you have to research, and design/build yourself, and not an off-the-shelf product you can buy and slap into your system in under 5 minutes. In other words, you actually have to know something, and it requires some/a lot of elbow grease.

Plus a custom loop gives very tangible cooling benefits even over the best air coolers, so by any definition it's not epeen, or at least not *just* epeen. And for the record, a custom loop can't be excessive, unless you're building an mATX system inside a CaseLabs STH10, then ok maybe.

I suppose when I said "epeen buyer" I conjured up images of teenagers with rich parents who just buy the most expensive thing simply because it's the most expensive. Does that make sense?

I mean, okay. You're the guy who wrote the post, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I was and am not very inclined to give you a charitable intepretation due to your OCN title 'AMD Fanboy', talk about epeen, and overall distaste for Titan Xp.

LOL oh man ok. What if I told you I don't actually have a single AMD part in my rig? I wiped my sig because it felt too showy for my tastes, and I slapped on the title mainly for irony (an "AMD fanboy" who uses Intel/nVidia parts). But no of course I wouldn't expect you to reasonably know any of that, although I'll just say I doubt any true fanboy of either company will self-identify as such. wink.gif

These guys got a graphics score of 13,399 in Firestrike Extreme running 1 Xp at stock clocks. Doesn't the 1080 Ti get around that as well?

Think I am going to go 1080Ti this time around.

I saw PC Gamer talking about new Titan Xp and I thought it was a accidental repost of the last TXP lol. I was like why would there be a new one before the 11 series.

I have had Titans since the original ones. Kept changing to newer Titans but they just seem to have less of a performance gain and more of a price gap. That is moving the wrong way for me. Its not even a money thing for me its just seems like a waste for another 300 cuda cores and 50Mhz core clock lol.

If Xp was at $999 I would probably cave but you could do SLI 1080Ti for $200 more and have double the performance makes no sense to me. Not sure what they were thinking here... rolleyes.gif

I am kinda done with SLi as the DX12 stuff just ignores it so I have a gpu sitting there doing nothing 70% of the time. mad.gif

http://ambermd.org/gpus/benchmarks.htm
GP100 1430mhz Core / 720gb/s vs P6000 1560mhz Core / 432gb/s
Despite less cores and lower boost clocks, it beats the latter by a few %

Maybe the Titan Xp could benefit a bit more from more memory clocks? It's 547gb/s at stock.

maybe sell your sli titans? pocket some money and grab a single Xp?

makes sense tongue.gif

also back on the jayztwocent rant... he makes the video to complain about what Nvidia are doing business wise.. but I also think it was also fueled by them saying no to his Terry Crews build request..

ok I'm glad Nvidia said no.. now hes going to leave them in.. even though it makes him look bad.. if he wasn't so tight he would take the XPs out which he got for free anyway sell them and use his own money to buy the new Xps.. he would probably be 6-700$ out of pocket maybe not even that!. but thats nothing to represent himself & Terry crews build to everyone in fact I think its cheap.

thats just my opinion.. and lets end this now tongue.gif

Funny you say that I already sold one and other is listed. I basically with the Titans can put $700 in bank and get the 1080Ti for free!

For me to even consider the Xp it would have to be 30%+ faster then 1080Ti I dont see that happening.

Look at that glorious 3DFX logo. Still biggest leap in graphic improvement.
I am a 3DFX fan boy I collect their old GPUs even have a bunch sealed. Was the golden age of PC gaming for me. thumb.gif

I am somewhat tempted on the Xp only because I am so sick of dealing with SLi. I do alot of Flight Sims and Homebrew software so SLi support sucks and DX12 support seems lacking...

I run 3440x1440 so I need something that will almost drive 4K this single TX isnt cutting it anymore. I am the annoying person that has to push everything to Ultra even though there is usually no visual difference other then getting a giant performance whack.

Still seems like it cant quit pull double what the TXM can do. I can get 20K in Firestrike on GPU score. I wonder if those scores were overclocked at all.
