Well Hawk777th the Titan Xp is the fastest card you can get right now, it should suffice I'd say...

A custom 1080 Ti is probably faster unless you WB the Titan Xp.

I'd be inclined to disagree with this. Most Pascal card have an upper limit of around 2000-2100mhz on the FE cooler, considering that the TXp has 256 more cores, the same clock speeds, and more memory bandwidth, I would have to say that the TXp is the fastest card outright.

I am not talking about overclocking. I am talking plug and play. Also trying to get 2GHz+ with FE is a challenge and noise problem.

Even @ stock, I would still give the TXp the edge, until proven otherwise in head-2-head testing.

Custom GTX980 Tis blow Titan X Reference. Only difference here is memory bandwidth which I do not think is enough to beat 200-300MHz higher clock speeds. From testing with GTX1080 at stock it should not boost more than 16XX after it has hit steady state.

You are right, but there is a crucial difference; Maxwell had a lot more overclocking headroom, and it was mostly dependent on thermals. Unfortunately with Pascal, we hit a hard cap around 2100-2200mhz on the core across the entire line. This means that those extra cores matter when it comes to absolute performance.

If the 1080 Ti ends up being faster, then so be it, but I highly doubt Nvidia would sell the TXp for so much more if they knew it was going to be slower when both the 1080 Ti and TXp are overclocked.

I haven't had any experience with overclocking pascal. My TXP will do +250 core so about 1450 on the stock cooler.

I don't know what realistic is on Pascal.
